This was our first visit to Jekyll Island and was we weren't disappointed. We were surprise of the cost of entering the island. The island is a lay back community and plenty of leisure enjoyment. There were numerous outstanding restaurants for our enjoyment. It is lush with history with many historical homes to view. We visited the Turtle Rehab Center which very educational. We highly recommend you to visit the center. The island is lush with wild life that you need to be aware of. One incident while I was doing some photography trip. I stumbled upon a 4-foot alligator enjoying the water. Having grown up in Louisiana, I'm aware of how alligator behavior. Slowly backing way, I was able to obtain photo of the creature. The only draw back was they only allow disable military veterans on the island. Being a military veteran, I was confused with the omission. To be a military veteran, you have had to serve in the military and discharge with or released under conditions other than dishonorable. So, military veterans be very careful when traveling to Jekyll Island. That is the reason I didn't give it a 5-star. Until this issue has been resolve, I...

Love Jekyll hate the gates!! The people taking your payment are sooooooo slowwwwww o. M. G. I sat for 22 minutes to get in. It's faster without an attendant on duty at the entrance gates. 10$ per to enter each day. A little steep for essential workers only coming on for an hour or two. I don't agree with charging insurance field representatives, county assessors, lawn care companies, or any one coming in to provide a service and not there to vacation. It's ridiculous to charge us to come provide a service for the Islanders. Otherwise the beaches are beautiful because this is a protected island. Let's keep the barrier islands under state authority. So it doesn't become another Saint Simons with horrible traffic, way too much building and basically over population of...

Jekyll Island is a personal favorite of mine.

You do pay an entrance fee. Considering the quality of park, beautiful views and beaches, the $6 car fee is reasonable.

One of the best Welcome Centers I've ever visited!

The staff is friendly, and very knowledgeable about things to do and see on Jekyll Island. They will gladly answer your questions and offer recommendations. All with a hearty coastal Georgia smile!

The gift shop offers a wide assortment of beach themed items and decor. None of the merchandise is that usual obnoxiously tacky overpriced junk. It's quite nice.

You'll enjoy your visit to the island. Stay too long and you may never...

We've been to JI many times, but only just stopped at this visitors center Oct, 2018. It's great! It's fun looking at all the interesting items & the ladies working here were very nice, BUT... the highlight of this stop is the 2 story obsevation tower! There is a nice bench on each level where you can sit and enjoy the gorgeous golden marsh view. You can see the Sydney-Lanier Bridge to the left and the Jekyll Island resort and wharf/marina to the right (looking through the tree). All these photos were taken 5-6:30 p.m. Oh! And we saw about 7 or 8 Roseate Spoonbills!!! THE highlight! 😍

Nice Guest information center with lots of gifts & souvenirs. Didn't camp at this park. There are lots of trees and narrow roads to camp sites. Just a few places in the "T" section to handle big rigs, but the other areas are a bit tight to handle big rigs with pullout slides & tight turns with low branches in some places. It was well packed with campers, and there was not a lot of room between each site. Our rig with a freightliner would be difficult in this state park. The Driftwood Beach is a place to certainly visit though!

The Jekyll Island Information Center is an essential first stop for visitors to the island. Staffed by friendly and knowledgeable guides, the center offers maps, brochures, and personalized advice on attractions and activities. The small museum within adds context to the island's rich history and natural wonders. Whether seeking information on tours, accommodations, or the best spots to explore, the Jekyll Island Information Center is a valuable resource for planning a memorable visit.
