This park has 2 trails you can walk around. The red trail takes you down to ni e overlook while the blue trail is mostly a wooded loop. If you want to get down in the gulf they say there's an unmarked trail you can take 🤔 however it is extremely steep so do your research before attempting. Also note this can and does flood very quickly. The bathrooms were pretty smelly, and the information station was severely lacking. Do you're research before you get here because you're likely to have zero phone service as well. I have tmobile and was totally offline even in the parking lot. 4 stars because the information on the park is very limited (no trail map to show you how to get down to the bottom so alot of people are winging it, we seen a couple go do a route that potentially could of been fatal as it was very steep and was sheer rock just below them). It is neat, but MO really needs to do better and use our tax dollars to at least update the information, maps, bathrooms.

AKA.. The little Grand Canyon. It happens to be a very awesome place to go check out. Not very baby friendly yet theyd be fine in a backpack or tummypack. This place is basically an amazing (rather short) nature trail that runs partially around 2 canyons that act as the towns kitchen sink or drainage. {{It also drains into another amazing must see spot 9miles away, Mammoth Spring State Park, Ak. Beatuiful place.}} Ive been to Grand Gulf State Park 3x in the past 10yrs and everytime Ive been there it looks completely different than Ive seen it look before!! My 1st trip in Aug of 2012, everything green, thick, and I saw my 1st armadillo. Id no clue how high we actually were standing on the balcony type ledge that pushes out over the largest canyon slightly. I dont recall any water then. My 2nd trip, around Thanksgiving, Nov 2013, without leaves to block the view as before, (in no way do I fear heights at all. Im a climber.) The view, when the green was gone, TOOK MY BREATH as I gazed over the edge to the cave at the very very bottom of the canyon which was still empty without any water at all in it and I could see it all. Wow!! Recently, I found myself once again 30 mins away from Thayer, Mo and I couldnt pass it by without going back again!! Wow! June 2022 WATER! It was half full of flowing water! Absolutely Gorgeous!! Altho I nearly stepped on a snake that crossed the path just as I nearly stepped into his way Im so glad I went back! Looks like they are working to expand the trail and theyve also done some other minor changes in past 10yrs. Expect nothing more than a short nature hike for now.. at least until they expand the trails further. Theres nothing more than nature here and ITS WORTH SEEING!! I CANT WAIT TO GO AGAIN BC I KNOW YET AGAIN ITLL BE A NEW SIGHT TO SEE AS IVE YET TO SEE IT BEFORE. I REALLY LOVE THIS LIL SPOT! and they dont in any way pry money from visitors here. Theres nothing more than a small parking lot, restrooms, 2 large bulletins with info and nature!!...

Beautiful place to visit and Tour. Warning do not leave any valuable items in your vehicle. I stopped in with my nephew's on March 18th a lady approached me and asked if I seen a gray car . MY reply was did they back into ya . It was worse they broken the passenger side window and stolen her purse that she felt was safe hiding under her coat. Less than 30 min visit she was there and had that happened. It's a easy target because once your off on the trails there's no one up at the parking area watching the vehicle, unless someone stays behind. She has a SUV so trunk was no option for her purse. Pack lightly on valuables take a funny pack etc for credit cards id keep the rest at home motel room ECT. Never keep your social or birth certificate of yourself or children in the purse as well like this lady had done better off in a hidden spot at home. Other than the heed of warning the place is...
