Monumento al Jibaro Puertorriqueño — Attraction in Salinas

I appreciate the history behind this monument. However, it is in the middle of the mountains and is right off the highway. You pull off in an exit into a secluded asphalt square, park your car wherever you feel like it, and then you walk over to the monument. It's a very impressive monument, but since it is alone, it makes the trip up there very underwhelming. If this is something you are interested in seeing, then, by all means, check it out. The main property is closed, possibly from the road construction and to maintain safety for now, but from the side of the road, you’re able to park and get closer to the monument. The road it’s on is a bit dangerous, so I would take precaution and go at your own risk. It’s a beautiful place, and you can somewhat view the mountains nearby. Nice historical place and great area view but, no permanent security makes the place a risk to stop by, and area maintenance is poor! Some "goodies" and drinks to sell, and permanent security are imrovements that would make it "a better place to visit" and will help the economy...
