I stayed at the Lancaster/New Holland KOA Journey campground for about 6 weeks. My first time at this campground, I originally planned on staying for 1 month but was fortunate to be able to extend my stay due to a cancellation. I'm a traveling full-time RVer and have stayed at numerous campgrounds in the US, and this one is definitely at the top of my list! Here's why... The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and serene - rolling hills, farmland, amazing sunrises/sunsets, and Amish charm. The views from the campsites overlooking the valley are breathtaking! The campground itself is very-well maintained. Water, sewer, and electric were all in good order and reliable. I was there when the remnants of hurricane Ida rolled through, and the very next morning there was a team of staff clearing leaves, rocks, tree branches, etc. By that afternoon, Labor Day vacationers would've never known there was a storm. The dumpsters are located far enough away from campsites and are emptied regularly long before they overflow. Campers are predominantly there for vacations and weekend getaways... lots of evening campfires, grilling, etc., and everyone was very respectful of the other campers. Campsites are quickly cleaned between bookings. The staff and owner of the campground are responsive, incredibly helpful, and happy. There's a great vibe at this campground, and I'm grateful I got to experience it!

We went here for a childhood friends funeral. We brought the camper because it was a two-day event. While the reason for our stay here is sad the stay itself was amazing. The temperature was cool in the air was breezy. It was clean and wonderful and we really were able to focus on things at hand while sitting in our chairs and staring out into green nature. A lot of reflecting and to deep thinking can be done here. Our neighbors were wonderful and we even had a bunny visit us, eating the clovers down the little Hill from where we sat until it was full. In the evening there were bats flying around catching bugs. It was tremendously comfortable and we could breathe deeply here. When driving around you could really tell that you were in Amish country. Everybody was kind and courteous. The people in the KOA office were wonderful and even suggested that we grab some donuts in the bakery across the street. We didn't take them up on that offer but it was wonderful suggestion regardless. I hope to someday return to this KOA and spend a bit more time in this wonderful place and this wonderful area. We were here on a quick and rather last minute journey, as most funeral type things go. So I was not able to enjoy a lot of the offerings from the surrounding area. Next time though.

This should be negative star rating for this place. Sadly a waste of beautiful property due to lady at check in and not offered of slots with view and amenities when we asked for a month. Do not go here! The woman that runs this place is SATAN. Unfortunately, her husband BOB is a gem. :-) We chose this place because it had RULES, and seemed to be very lovely and well maintained. We figured it would keep out the less desirable, partiers and nasty dirty cluttery people. SAD SAD SAD

This woman upon check in, acts as though you are completely invading her life and space. She belittles you and treats you like you are coming into their campground to enjoy yourself. The site states cable, fire rings and beautiful views. Well you do not get those and they move you to the back of the lot if you are here for work, regardless of how good a person you are and how nice neat and tidy. They put us in some slots they made off the back of the property and we like to have never got out. IT WAS A LIVING HELL. Our neighbors in there , are now where we are, as they too were very upset and had to back down the hill with their 40+ foot fifth wheel. RIDICULOUS. Not to mention, they made it clear we are to pay in cash only. Seriously I can show where we had to go to an ATM and give cash only-- this I believe is against KOA policy, because they are to report the money and rental. They charge $700 something a month, no amenities and charge for electric. Our neighbors were told that it was $5 to $7 a day!!!

While they made us pay in cash only , they did refund our money in a Check, which was deposited immediately and did go through so far.

I am telling you the lady who runs this is a C yoU Next Tuesday kinda girl. How sad. We have never camped at any site, no matter how extravigant or how basic that had such RUDE RUDE lady to check us in. They do not tell they need to copy your drivers license, which I also think is illegal. They copy your insurance, registration and credit card. Their site also states pet friendly, but on the phone the C you next tuesday lady stated they do not take dogs. I will be contacting KOA Corporate next. Shame on this could be lovely nice friendly place, they should not be able to carry any chain logos!!! They are doing KOA a disservice. They even charge per child. This bitter old lady should be avoided. Let her lose money and get a real reality check. Better yet, stay away and let Bob run the show. He is a nice human and was very understanding.

Bob thanks for being as kind as you could and we pray for you each and every day.

STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!! THEY WILL SAY THEY HAVE SOME LONG TERM SITES, BUT DO NOT GO. The site they put us in was not long enough, was not wide enough, there has to be some code there, we had not even 12 foot on backside of RV for hook ups and our front area was less than 4.5 foot.

They issue one gate pass only. Even though we had two vehicles and come and go at different times for work. Rude lady at front said she would not allow people to come in after 9pm, your just out of luck!! Well, day one we had to return to our RV after our 6:30am meeting and gate key worked for our first vehicle and would not work for our second one, even when we waited 5 minutes. We continued to ring the bell for assistance and because it was before hours they did not answer for over 12 minutes. Our time is money! We begged to pay and buy a second gate key card and was refused. For all you folks coming in town on projects and for utilities and inspections---DO NOT GO...

I read many reviews before choosing this campground. As a matter of fact, this was my second choice. I first chose Beacon Hill but they were full. Country Haven Campground is not a KOA or a resort; nor does it claim to be. This campground is very quiet and clean and the owners tend to be very strict with their rules. I didn't mind because I knew I was going there to relax. No dogs that might bark too loud or leave a present on someone's campsite; no small children whose delightful laughter or playful ways might annoy another camper... or the owners.... If you have young children or unruly pets this may not be the place for you. The owners of this campground are friendly... maybe a bit anal but, hey... it's their campground. For example, there are rocks situated on the grass where one would have to turn their RV or other camping vehicle. They warn you to be careful not to run into the rocks as you go around the corner. I asked my husband why they would put those big rocks there if they knew it could damage your vehicle. He said they probably don't want anyone riding on the grass. hmmm.. ok

The office is just that.. an office. It is not a gift shop or convenience store ( in case you've forgotten milk or bread ), etc. One will walk in and look around and think they might be in an old flea market with not so attractive glass/porcelain figurines, etc. We had no problems with the owners Bob and Bonnie. We had no issues with which to confront them, thank goodness. Bob led us to our campsite.... and made sure we were situated before he left. We camped next to a very nice couple. (We actually realized we knew each other through friends!) They mentioned that they have been coming to Country Haven Campground every year about this time of year for 5 years. They also did not bring their pets... and had no small children. I think people who have been coming here yearly, know the rules... understand the owners ways and just want to have a place to keep their trailers/RVs while they take there cars/trucks out to enjoy all that this town has to offer. And it is a lot. Just to be fair to pet owners... we spoke to a camper who was walking his little schnauzer and he was very conscious of his dog making too much noise. The dog seemed to not mind complying. *smiles At nighttime we lit our campfire, sat around until it got too cold and then went inside and enjoyed just being together. So, in my opinion, this campground suited us just fine. It's all a matter of how well you do your research before making your reservations. If you are looking for a 'family' friendly; laid-back campground with a lot of amenities... look elsewhere. If you just really want to relax in a quiet atmosphere...this...

My experience is a little different than most seeing I’ve never camped here before with my family. We made a choice after being interested in the nice views and the clean area of the campground to not stay here. We stopped one day to view the campground and get an idea of the layout and see where we would prefer to be, a pull thru, a back in, in shade, no shade , that sorta thing. When I went in to ask the lady at the desk about some info, she was talking to me like I was an inconvenience and trying to rush me at the door, and our conversation had only been for 20 seconds at this point. She had no warm friendly mannerisms one would see in trying to help someone out. So I walked out to my truck , didn’t say anything to my wife about it or how I thought I was treated, I just thought maybe it was just me, maybe she’s ready to go home. Who knows, we drove around my wife found about 10 different spots she liked, so she wanted me to call and make the reservation. I call, and ask if there are some specific sites available and the response I get is , ā€œno that’s not how we do it here, we pick your spot, so I asked a couple other questions about the available spots and she says ā€œwe have this site to this site available, you just tell us if you want a pull thru or back in, we pick your site. If everyone wanted to pick sites they would want the same oneā€, just very short, and snobby. I was confused because all other campgrounds I’ve stayed at, spots are first come first service usually?! If a site is available and not booked that you requested and it fits your camper/rv typically you pay the reservation fee , it’s yours. This was the first time I ever got from any campground in years ā€œyou don’t get to pick your spot , we do , ā€œwith a cocky attitude once again. So my wife asked me if I ever booked the site for camping and I said no , and explained to her why. She said forget that, if she was snobby acting towards you we will spend our money somewhere else. The next day we decide to go on google and read some reviews and what do you know, I’m not the only one who thinks the lady at the desk was mean! Now I realize it’s not just me. If you’re looking for a nice clean place to stay , this is one of the campgrounds in the area for that. If you also care about the service you get from the people that own or work there, this should be the last...
