Black Bear Vineyard — Attraction in Salisbury

A wine tasting room built into the basement of the host's house, what a cool concept! The way it's designed, you would think you were in the wine cellar of a restaurant. There is a bar to sit at and tables set up in an adjoining room. The host was slammed with many customers when we arrived to do a tasting, but he was still very pleasant. Wines were tasty and we ended up buying a bottle to go. Maybe a trip here in the warmer months would be a good idea, as there were many vines outside...

We stumbled upon Black Bear Winery while planning our road trip from Montréal to NH and we were pleasantly surprised. Ted, the owner, was very welcoming and kind, along with being a great entertainer. We had so many laughs with his stories and humor! He was very generous with his time and showed us around his beautiful land, explaining the process of how the wine is produced. Secluded yet what a surprise to crest the hill and be met with a gorgeous house surrounded by rolling hills, fields and water. A beautiful brick walk way leads to the entry of the wine cellar! As you descend into what looks like a wine barrel, the antique walls and cork bar are inviting. Kelly and Ted are great down to earth people. Kelly was very knowledgeable and full of life!
