Lime rock park has been a staple in our family for automotive racing since the early 70s. My dad and I would go and enjoy racing on Memorial Day. Things have changed that I can remember even from the 80s, I remember there being so many blankets on the ground, where it was like walking around at the beach, where you were trying to not step on peoples blankets and trying to get around everything. The garbage cans were always full and overflowing with so much trash and beer bottles. I could not imagine how much the bottles were worth for recyclables. There was almost always about a 10 to 12 foot distance from the fence were photographers and people walking around the track made their way around. I remember people putting tarps up against the fence, having hibachi‘s and cooking pretty much inside the infield areas as a norm. Back then tickets were available at a lot of local places, stores, package stores, car dealerships, just ones that I remember. At 54 years of age now, I see a lot of people missing going to the tracks, lime rock is a beautiful venue that has updated it many ways, as a car collector and member of Hagerty there are benefits to those memberships. Ticket prices for events are around $80 a person, I would suspect these are very big increases nearing NASCAR ticket prices. We were going to attend the car show Sunday for the fall historic vintage festival, but the staff there mention it’s $40 a car and if you have a passenger it’s another $40. At $80 for two people we can simply not attend, what’s going on here. It’s unfortunate as last year this was free, one can only wonder what the turnout will be. One thing noteworthy of missing is the billboard that highlights the remaining laps and track positions, that appears to have been removed. I would hope that the owners of lime rock park have plans to put that back, yesterday we had a hard time following how many laps are left in for the positions of the cars. Basically, every track that we’ve attended all seem to have a board that highlights positions and labs. Lime rock Park has and will remain to be a go to for auto racing events for us, we would just like to see pricing more in line with events there. I would suspect lower pricing would get more people to attend. A $9 can of beer, expensive food and for travelers coming from out of state factor in gas, a $32 T-shirt and you have a pretty expensive day. For people in certain industries you know what it costs to make stuff. Having pricing more inline with for generating sales, goes a long way. I can’t remember the last time in public I saw a LRP shirt or anything. I wish they focus on marketing to get the name out there. Trust me, I like not having tons of people around me, but I would like to see this park exist not snd generations to come.
This weekend we had a chance to see cars I could not have imagined to see on the track, old Ferraris, old Porsche, such iconic cars right here in Connecticut, at Lime Rock Park. There was a person at the pit gate that mentioned, if your jaw doesn’t drop your not much of a car enthusiasts, man I couldn’t agree more. The cars there yesterday were absolutely stunning, and ti see snd hear them run in the track one at a time to hear the iconic engine tones, was simply stunning. To hear 60’s Lemans type cars running on the track was absolutely stunning, thank you LRP and car owners for sharing these incredible memories with us, the spectators and car guys and ladies.
PS, bring back the dvd video even in its old state for $20, people would enjoy it. An employee can make copies with current disk duplicators to keep it low budget and keep fans happy. Pics attached of...
Read moreLet me start by saying that my family has been returning to Lime Rock Park each year for generations, over 40 years. It's practically in our blood. We love it.
Unfortunately it's becoming less and less likable and feasible for us for a number of reasons. Tickets for events and camping have increased, facilities are basically the same they were 30 years ago, still no hookups available for campers and not to mention the whole situation with campsites in general. Back in the day, sites used to be first come first serve. Times change and now it's reserved online. The problem is they keep reconfiguring the campsites, making them smaller each year in order to add more sites and continue to increase the price all the while. This last July when we stayed there for the Northeast Grand Prix, part of our campsite ended up being on the asphalt because they measured incorrectly (you don't have a choice but to accept the situation for what it is in as they mark it out with pink paint spray paint). Not ideal for our baby to be crawling around on. During events the one shower trailer available is basically a joke and you'll be waiting a long time, especially if you're a man. For the amount of money this place makes they seem to really cheap out on campers who are spending good money to stay there, while investing more and more in things for people who, let's face it, have a certain amount of wealth.
One last disappointment is the races. When they updated the track a few years ago many of the super cars stopped coming. Now after a record turnout of spectators at the last July races, they announced that next year in 2024 IMSA will be skipping over...

Lime Rock Park is a one-of-a-kind venue for motorsports fans. Instead of traditional grandstands, it uses the natural landscape—grassy hills and raised viewing areas that create an awesome amphitheater feel. You can see almost the entire track from many spots, and it’s a laid-back, bring-your-own-chair kind of vibe that makes it feel more personal and connected to the action.
A huge shoutout to them for offering free general admission to active duty military and veterans with ID during major race events—an incredibly thoughtful gesture that not all venues offer.
Parking is free and easy, located just outside the track, and they even offer golf cart shuttles if you need a hand getting in.
If you're planning to stay the weekend, on-site camping is available with a pass—whether you're tenting it, bringing a car, or pulling in with an RV. Facilities are clean, the whole operation is organized, and the atmosphere is friendly and fun.
Pro tip: Don’t rush—events can get busy, but the staff keeps things moving, and it’s well worth the experience. This is racing the way it should be—up close, personal, and...
