Basically, it's fairly well traveled with a lot of people on weekends going to the beach at Silver Lake. Trail itself is wide, not too steep and takes about an hour to get to the lake. Best advice on what to do-- ditch the beach, cross the dam and walk along the western shore of the lake to find an area to swim and hang out with a bit of privacy. There are plenty of places to do so. There is a point, however, where the trail splits and heads off to the west and over the bowl the lake is in. If you find yourself climbing, you're wrong.

We hike this trail every year and it's fantastic! Not too difficult for flatlanders or older family members. There is a compostable outhouse by silver lake which was very clean and spacious and lots of picnic tables. Excellent half day adventure!

Beautiful hike...wide access trail up to the lake w river and waterfalls. The loop around the lake is peaceful....caught some great lighting and fall colors. The quick side trail up to Lenny's lookout is a must.

This is a great trailhead. You can go right and up to Silver Lake or left and pick up the Aunt Jenny - Rattlesnake Cliffs trail loop. The cliff trail is a lot of fun, but don't head toward the falcons March - July. It's a big fine and the birds cannot be disrupted. There is no view if you don't get to the cliffs. The Silver Lake trail is super easy and the lake is beautiful. Highly...

This trail can fool you. If you continue around the lake when you get to the picnic area, plan on five hours, easy. Plenty of elevation, with switchbacks & cliffs all along the West side. There's a place where the trail goes down to about 6 inches wide, with 650 ft drop to the West. Not marked very well at one intersection. But whats a...
