Limited parking here. Mainly just a pull off on the side of a busy road. Very glad that there is a historical marker here though! These pictures do not do the size and steepness of the hill it’s justice. I can hardly imagine walking up this hill by myself, let along haul a wagon! No wonder their animals died shortly after. Like I said pictures do not do this place justice, and if you’re an Oregon Trail nerd like me you certainly need to stop here and check out the hill for yourself.

There wasn't a very good trail to get down to the stream, but I'm not real sure if this was part of the Donner Hill experience. This is a 'park by the side of the road, read the placard, get back in your car and keep going' kind of place. If you want to scamper down the side of the hill and hopefully not break your neck, you'll see the stream I posted. Lots of history behind this placard that is there. Stop, enjoy, be careful getting back onto the roadway.

Great place to ponder the many adversities facing the early travellers to the Salt Lake Valley. It's hard to imagine they got up over this treacherous hill in wagons pulled by oxen. You can hike to the creek from here, but then you can't get ant further. It would be nice if they had some trails here to explore.

This is a must see for history buffs. I actually grew up in the area, the park of my childhood was Donner Park. This historical marker/monument is in memorial of the infamous Donner Party. Some of you may have heard the gruesome stories and trials they endured on their journey westward. Record snowfall rendered them stationary for the season. They ran out of food, and rescue efforts were severely affected. Many people in this group perished. Some had to resort to extreme survival measures. Including cannibalism. It is one of the most well known stories because of the challenges they faced. It is definitely...
