This is a must see for history buffs. I actually grew up in the area, the park of my childhood was Donner Park. This historical marker/monument is in memorial of the infamous Donner Party. Some of you may have heard the gruesome stories and trials they endured on their journey westward. Record snowfall rendered them stationary for the season. Very glad that there is a historical marker here though! These pictures do not do the size and steepness of the hill it’s justice. I can hardly imagine walking up this hill by myself, let along haul a wagon! No wonder their animals died shortly after.
