Fantastic store!!! If you are into models, games or especially trains; then this is your store!! They gave me options, never pushed anything (I had made several visits before I actually bought my first purchase, and was well advised every visit without any sales pressure). Their prices are as good or usually better than buying online; especially from Amazon. If they don't have it, they can get it...and almost always cheaper than online.

Unbelievable supply of modeling paints and supplies, numerous brands and tons of colors. Customer service is fantastic, they will not give you bad advice, even if it costs them a sale. I feel they would rather walk away from a sale than sell you something you do not need, want, or can afford.

I recently got back into HO scale model trains and they have been worth every penny in steering me the right direction. They actually suggested options for a train controller that was cheaper than what I thought I needed and was ready to purchase.

They are truly great folk that are more concerned about doing the customer right than...

Walking into Dibble’s, the oldest hobby shop in San Antonio - it’s been in this same exact spot in the Jefferson Village Shopping Center (which also just happens to be the world’s first L-shaped strip mall, according to Life Magazine) since 1957 (but started downtown in 1905 as a bicycle shop) - is just like walking back in time; very very little has changed at Dibble’s in those sixty three years. Inside, it looks just like how I always imagined the 1950’s would actually look, heck, it even sorta smells like the 1950’s in Dibble’s, hints of model airplane glue, slightly singed knotty pine, freshly printed mimeograph paper, maple syrup, moth balls in the ol’ cedar closet, and just a whiff of Vicks Mentholatum. Well, maybe I just imagined that last part. but either way, Dibble’s is magical (and that’s not a word I use lightly, mainly ‘cause it’s such a corny thing to say), and I’m so happy it still exists - I couldn’t imagine a San Antonio without a Dibble’s - not only the best hobby shop in San Antonio, the best hobby shop on the entire planet as far as...

Best hobby store in SATX. They have nearly everything here. Gundams, Battletech, Warhammer, World of Warcraft, normal cars, WW1 and WW2 figurines, planes, ships, boats, vehicles, tanks, and let's not forget the trains with all the associated terrain-building materials. (can almost guarantee I am missing something)

They have everything you need to put it together including all sorts of books and tools. On top of ALL of that, if you want something, they have the resources to look it up and order it for you.

However, the best part is the vast amount of knowledge they have when it comes to this type of hobby. Being young, with no one in my family to pass down their techniques, I rely mostly on YouTube, but I am not afraid to ask anyone here a question to build my base of knowledge.

Next time you're looking for your next set to build or a specific paint you might need, don't go to a big box store or Amazon(the murderer of most of these fantastic stores), head to Dibble's hobbies. They'll have it, and if they don't, they'll...

I have never been to a game store like Dibble's Hobbies. I probably will never go to another store like it, unless I'm in San Antonio. Dibble's Hobbies would have been an ideal game store 25 years ago, when serious tabletop gaming in America meant one of two things: Dungeons and Dragons (or other similar RPGs) and GMT war games. Walking in felt like going back to the early 1990s. There was an amazing selection of GMT Games. There were model trains, which, I assume, were of varied model and make. (I really don't know, to be honest, but they looked serious.) There were model planes and cars and, yes, starships. Of course, there were some modern games, too, but those were hardly the reason to go to Dibble's. The staff was friendly, too. That's a huge plus.
