October 17th we checked in for a 4-day stay at Lake Casitas. We have been camping just 20 minutes down the road. My husband has an extremely bad back and was in so much pain that morning he said let's not hook up the tow car do the motorhome and had me just drive it. When I got to the gate to check in, they said I could not drive the tow car through. We had to hook it up. Then as soon as we drove through the gate, 20 ft , we could unhook it. I explained the situation , my husband being in so much pain, disability placard, upcoming surgeries. They said they just couldn't, that was their policy. And I asked them to please look the other way while we drove 20 feet. But they would not. This mama bear is pretty ticked off that they would not show leniency for someone who was injured in the line of duty....
Read moreThis Lake is awesome! Nice views in different areas. There’s a $10 visitor entrance fee for a car. (I didn’t go camping). Entrance fees vary depending on vehicles. If you are planning to go camping, check their website for fees and reservations. Picnic tables are available near the lake. This lake is big which makes it easy to find a parking spot. I even drove my car to the lake. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leash. Explore around by car and stop for some overlooking views! Read moreWe called ahead to see if we could kayak in the lake, we finally got someone to speak to at the tackle shop....they said, "we could bring our own kayak and enter the lake." We arrived after a 2 hour drive, only to be told they wanted to "impound or wait "30 days for the kayak to be inspected by someone". But if we choose to rent a kayak at the lake, that was o.k.
