Came here on the Opening Weekend on Sunday. The signup process is very confusing. There weren’t any signs anywhere that would indicate what and what for. I brought my son and we entered on the top floor. Lots of stairs, so if you have a hard time climbing stairs, enter on the bottom floor, where the go cart races start. We scanned the QR code at the unmarked table at the top entrance there was a nice woman sitting there answering questions. You’ll need to fill out the liability waiver prior to racing.
There was a wait in line, and several ladies behind a desk. There seemed to be a quiet confusion from everyone, including the employees. We decided to use the touchscreens adjacent to the desk to purchase our tickets after waiting in line for awhile.
The touchscreen was confusing as how to operate for the different races. My son is 13 so he would need the starter track (7-14 yo I believe.) I opted the intermediate adult track, (you need a dl for this track) When I went to book this one, I was told by a very helpful employee that you would need to “register and race the starter track” before being able to race intermediate. The track times didn’t allow for this as they were almost fully booked on the slots. There was one slot left for the starter race at 6:45 and let my son take it. (Next starter race was 7:30 I believe)
There’s a once a yr “drivers license fee” of $4.99 along with the starter course fee. All told was $33 and change. I paid with my debit card as the tap to pay was down.
There were actually a lot of machines down, at least 6 that I noticed. Mostly arcade games where some actually had the assembly and mechanical operating booklets laying nearby. A-lot of the machines were not even set up, and just sitting throughout the 2 floors.
The computers kept giving the employees trouble and they had to call someone each time. This happened SEVERAL times. I get that it was opening weekend. Even so, my thinking is why were there games not even up and running from the start. Or lots of games reading “out of service.” There’s going to be growing pains, of course. It just seemed very rushed and put together. The main focus was on the tracks which makes sense too, that’s their moneymaker.
Just for an opening weekend maybe have signs to direct where and when to go. The IT dept maybe needed to make sure their operating system was up and running. Games at the very least set up. Again, understand just opening. It all seemed very disorganized as a first impression.
That being said, ALL of the Employees were patient, kind, and helpful. I had to ask a few questions before the race started for my son on timing. There’s also a “safety class” given before each race.
There is an entrance podium on the bottom floor. Micheal who was working there was VERY helpful and polite, he hooked us up with a couple of arcade cards with some free tokens on them. Arcade was fun, but again the game selection was lacking from downed and incomplete game set up.
We wanted to eat at the restaurant but with the arcade and setting up for his race, we didn’t have time. I did order a “to-go” 20 oz soda from the bar. $5.36 with tax. Probably won’t do that one again. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food.
My son said he enjoyed the race a lot. The “race” is 7 mins long and even gives times of racer placement with their names the on screens hanging up. There’s a few viewing areas to watch the races. Everyone had smiles on their faces and seemed to enjoy watching and participating in the races. There is a jr track as well, I didn’t catch the age range.
Understanding of the kinks and bends to be worked out, I knew going in that it would be busy on opening weekend. I did expect more from an organized and concise standpoint. The website isn’t as detailed and was difficult to get to the waiver beforehand. The QR code at the desk worked best.
Overall, we had a great time. I’m excited theres a new place to take my gremlins We will return once they have been up and running for a...
Read moreI waited years for this place to open... so excited for the big day... and it was a hot mess. The junior go-karts are FAR too slow to be enjoyable. My kids (age 9 and 10) did not have fun at all and they waited for 2 hrs to ride. They were begging to get off the track because they were sitting idle for so long.
My wife's ride (which she waited 90 minutes for) was also not fun. They stopped her karts in the middle of the race and then when they turned them back on.. hers never started. This resulted in her getting rammed multiple times by other karts. She was raising her arms and yelling to get help but NONE of the 11 employees seemed to notice. I wish I was downstairs at the time but I was upstairs with my 4-year old because the kiddie karts aren't open yet and he was getting extremely antsy.
This leads me to the arcade (on both levels). I counted the machines and over HALF of them were either not turned on or malfunctioning. I couldn't believe it. Why would you open an arcade when half your machines aren't even turned on yet? It's like opening a restaurant but only having half the menu available to order from. We didn't do the bowling so I can't comment on that but there were about five or six duckpin lanes which was nice to see. We didn't eat either so I have no comment on the food but they did have a beautiful brick oven so I'm hoping the pizza is on point.
Unfortunately, when it came to the racing, the pricing is too high. The wait times are too long. We spent about six hours at FastTrax, and rode the karts once. I didn't even ride my race because I had no one to watch my 4-year old given that my wife and two daughters were waiting for hours to ride their races.
It pains me to write this because I was so eagerly anticipating this opening for so very long. I bought VIP passes immediately my entire family. I followed all the progress online... I felt invested. And yes, I know its opening weekend and it takes TIME to iron things out. But the system here... the ordering system and the entire setup was just so chaotic. I really hope they change things up ASAP.
Positives: The facility itself is impressive to look at... the neon lights on the track are very cool. I love the multi-level experience too. And because the karts are electric they are super quiet. So eerily quiet that you kinda need music in the background for sure. The prizes are decent as well. Way bigger selection than Gametime or D&B. Ample seating...
Read moreCame in on a Wednesday afternoon about 6pm, the arrival experience is nice, they station several staff members at the door to assist guests and answer questions. Staff member I talked to was friendly and had me squared away after about 10 minutes.
The whole building looks great inside and out, everything is clean, smells nice too.
The price is too much, $20.99 (about $22.50 after tax), PER seven minute race, you're also forced into doing a starter race which places the karts on a significant power reduction mode, It gets you introduced to the whole system, but charging 20.99 for that intro race is a rip off, it would be way fairer for new customers, to bundle their starter with an intermediate tier race. I did 4 races, which together was about $90. Was it fun? Absolutely. But for 28 minutes of race time? $90? That's a really tough sell to my buddies, not to mention a tough sell to myself to come back. I would be happy to spend 2 or 3 hundred dollars here, if it meant I could get a substantial number of races or net track time. But their best package deal is 10 races for $140 only on off days. Which is still 14 dollars per 7 minutes. (Being able to sign up for a practice day 2 or 3 times a month where the track is constantly going, and you actually get time to work on your lap times and practice the track would be awesome.) They have an arcade, but everything is paid, the only "free" activity you can do in the whole building is mini shuffle board.
The other main issue I had was the downtime between races, I was there until 10:30pm. So about 1 hour of downtime on average between races. You can shorten this I think if you hop between the red and blue tracks, but my goal was to focus on one track and try to learn it the best I could. They run a rotation between the 3 tiers of difficulty and a full cycle takes 45 minutes if there are no delays but they do happen from time to time. The system works fine, I'm not sure how they could make it better, still, it was frustrating having to wait so long between races. Getting rid of the long prep video for the non-starter tiers would be a good start.
I think overall the bones are here for an amazing racing experience, track is awesome, the karts are sweet! But the price, race length, and downtime is too much to make it anything more than a novelty. Come check it out, do a race or two, but its not something worth coming back for on a...
