Cactus Loop Trail — Attraction in San Diego Country Estates

Short hike pretty much enjoyable for the whole family. Different species of cactus not to familiar with them but plenty around becareful and watch the little ones. My friend said there are big horn sheep in the area didn't see any this time. Your pretty much in the sun the whole time, if you plan to go late morning or early afternoon bring water, cover, lots of sun screen. Was pretty warm then got kind of hot, can't imagine what it would be like in the summer. Picture and plant lovers?...

The trail was longer than expected, and we were starting to doubt that it would loop back to the main road. But it did.

It is not a quick stroll. It does go up quite a bit, and along narrow paths where you have to be careful of the plants. Everything stings here!

It is worth it, though. The view over the area is beautiful, and unlike other parts of the desert, this area is quite green and colorful with the many...

Took the hike, even though it was 115°F in July. Still very worth it! Short trail, but you can always turn back if it's too hot. Trailhead is right off the road and plenty of great examples very close. We had a perfect driving day, even with the heat, stopped here, then drove to the dragon sculptures farther north, in this park. Great day side trip to change vacation up from being just the coastal beaches....
