Read moreVisiting the Golden Gate Bridge is a definite highlight when you're in San Francisco. We took an Uber, and getting dropped off was easy and convenient. Just be warned — the winds are strong and icy cold, even in summer, so bring a jacket or windbreaker no matter the season!
Near the entrance, there’s a souvenir shop with a great selection of Golden Gate memorabilia — from hoodies and postcards to keychains and mini replicas. Right next to it, there’s also a casual restaurant/café if you want to grab a quick bite or hot drink before or after exploring.
For photos, the area has a few popular picture-taking spots near the visitor center where people naturally line up or expect some turn-taking. But if you walk a bit further down the bridge, the pathway opens up with plenty of space and equally stunning views — perfect for candid shots without the crowds.
What really stood out was the story area nearby that shares the history of the Golden Gate Bridge — including the emotional and powerful stories of the men who helped build it. Some of the stories are raw and heartbreaking, and give you a deep appreciation of what went into creating this iconic structure.
If you’re planning to cross the bridge, you can do so by walking, biking, driving, Uber, or taking a bus. But do come prepared — it’s super cold and windy on the bridge itself. Once you cross and exit the highway into the other side (e.g., Sausalito), you’ll feel a complete shift — it’s hot and sunny, a true summer feel. The contrast in weather between the two sides of the bridge is actually quite fascinating!
All in all, this is a powerful landmark — not just beautiful for photos, but meaningful for what it represents in history and engineering. Come for the views, stay for the story — and...
Read moreI've had the pleasure of visiting the Golden Gate Bridge many times over the years, and it never ceases to amaze me. One of my most memorable moments was when I saw a whale surface and spray water right beneath where I was standing at the center of the bridge. It was an incredible sight that I will never forget.
The Golden Gate Bridge is truly a marvel, especially when the fog rolls in. Walking across the bridge on a foggy day is an experience like no other. The height and grandness of the bridge, combined with the misty atmosphere, create a magical feeling that stirs up your tummy in the best way possible. It's like walking through a dream.
On clear days, the bridge is just as spectacular. The views across the bay to the city are breathtaking, and you can often see ships and sea life passing beneath the bridge. It's not uncommon to spot dolphins and harbor seals from the bridge, adding to the enchantment of the experience.
The architecture of the Golden Gate Bridge is a testament to human ingenuity. The massive towers, standing 746 feet tall, and the high-strength cables stretching over 7,650 feet, are engineering marvels. The bridge's distinctive International Orange color and Art Deco style add to its unique charm and beauty.
One thing to note is that it can get quite windy on the bridge. The gusts can be strong, adding an exhilarating element to your walk. Be sure to hold onto your hat and enjoy the refreshing breeze!
Whether you're a local or a visitor, I highly recommend taking the time to walk at least halfway across the bridge where the cables are at their lowest point. The views are breathtaking, and the experience is unforgettable. It's one of my favorite places, and I hope my review convinces you to visit and enjoy it as...
