One of several mini-lighthouses on the island, this one is especially cute and also accessible for a tour-- although to be fair, it's so tiny, stepping in the door and giving the room a once-over would count as a tour. It's tiny. The trail loop is really pretty. There are little switchbacks their gnarled old trees, and fairy-like thickets buzzing with dragonflies, and twisted bent shrubbery shaped by the wind. The trails open up to dramatic sea views that might or might not offer a sighting of whales or orcas. There are parking spots and restrooms (compsting) and a gift shop and food options. Read moreWe were here for the centennial celebration of the Lime Kiln Lighthouse. There were vendors and information booths plus live music and cake. The lighthouse was open for tours so we got to go to the top of the lighthouse. The vistas were beautiful and we got to learn the history of the area from a guide at the top of the lighthouse.
The park is the perfect place to have a picnic and watch the sunset. Plenty of hiking trails and ample parking near the interpretive center.

Read moreThe experience of hanging out here was great. The downside is that a lot of the trails are very steep, which for my MIL didn't work so well, which meant we had to find alternate paths to the different locations. I'm all for leaving the natural habitat, but adding some stairs or a more accessible path to the main locations would be great, including the lighthouse.
