Great little side of the road place to visit. Close to 30 life sized dinosaurs throughout the nature trail. Putt putt golf, a miners sluice where your guaranteed to get a bag full of fossils and gems that you get to keep, and a fossil dig. You can do as little or as much as you want. Nice gift shop and places to have a picnic lunch or even birthday parties under the gazebo. Grandkids loved it. If you've been here in the past and didn't think it was much. It's because it wasn't. New owners have renovated the dinosaurs, plus added in the fossil dig and miners sluice. We spent a good 4 hours there doing all they had to offer. Check out their website for the pricing. Each thing has its own price or you can do a few different bundles. We did the trail and fossil dig then sat down at a picnic table and had a little picnic lunch then went on to the miners sluice and finished with a round of putt putt. It's a fun place to take the kids or grandkids. The new owners have done really good things with the place. Make sure to read about the history of this place to on their website. This place is like 100 yrs old and the dinosaurs are all handmade by the...
Read moreA must see for families visiting the Alpena MI area!! We discovered this roadside attraction by chance while surfing the web for summer vacation things to do. We took our 7 year old grandson and we all loved it! This is a classic roadside attraction that would be typical of the 1930’s-1960’s. The people running this business have obviously put a ton of work, dedication and love into restoring this place back to what it was at its pinnacle decades ago. Be advised; if you are expecting high tech, flashing lights, and a lot of electronic wizardry, you will be disappointed…that is not what this attraction is about and also makes it a welcome change to what we see too often today. We will definitely be back in a few weeks when the rest of our family (plus more grandkids) are in town. TIP: If you decide to do the miners sluice and pan for gemstones, pay the extra for the “Mother Lode”. While it is a bit pricey you will be pleasantly surprised by what you will find….definitely worth the...
Read moreThis was such a great family outing! Our six year old loved the dinosaurs and the walk through the forest! I loved the history of the creation of the park told through plaques and old photos. Make sure to check out the bulletin boards in the store as they tell the rest of the story. I found it fascinating. There is also mini golf ( we didn’t do that so I won’t post about that), fossil digging and mining for minerals and gems. We didn’t both of those activities with our child and she loved it! It was affordable, educational and kept us engaged for about 2 hours or more. I posted a TikTok of our trip as it was such a great place to visit. I love road side stops and this one did not disappoint! It’s been Sarah d since 1935 and I think it should be an Up North must visit place! We will definitely come back and bring our adult children and grandkids as well! Oooh and make sure you check out the little play cottage along the trail and the mushroom...
