A great place to take the children. Just to make your experience much more enjoyable be for warned that some places only take cash so I would definitely advise stopping at an ATM before arrival. They do have ATMs there but if you are there on a Saturday you will have allot of fun waiting for over a half an hour easy just to get cash. I waited a total of an hour just trying to get cash. I waited in line the first time for over 20-30 minutes and the machine went down when I there were only 2 people ahead of me. Then had to wait at another line. The animals are real cool to see and the fact that the family can pet most of them is a cute experience. This place is very clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would say if you have 2 children 60+ dollars will let them go on most of the rides for ticket. They do not have allot of rides available for the younger kids but I spent about 60 for my teen and 3rd grader and they went to almost all of the rides there. Financially figure about 10 dollars for each adult entrance fee and 6 dollars for children under 12, about 10 dollars a plate, 4-8 dollars for a drink plus if they want funnel cakes etc. Hope this review gives fellow parents an idea pricewise what they are walking into. The animal visits are free.
The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is for the following reasons:
1 - The cash only thing in some places 2 - There are maybe 5 benches to sit down and eat for thousands of people literally. 3- There are tractor races next to some food areas and Ferris wheel so you can enjoy extreme exhaust fumes while you try to eat standing up or on the rides around that side. 4 - The food portions are way to small for the price but that is to be expected...
Read moreDrove 3 hours one way to see the tractor pull, the tractor pull was sold out, and they had tarps over the fence so no one could see even a glimpse of the pull, even after paying 10 bucks to get in. I have never seen a tractor pull sold out, and there were some seats available. The fairground staff was shooing people away from the fence, so you wouldn't be able to catch any part of the pulling. The zip-tie police came along and replaced some of the zip ties on the tarp, making it harder to see. This was my first time here, and definitely my last. Sandwich fair staff, either rent some more bleachers, or find a bigger area to put on the event, I realize it takes money to make money, but I saw and heard at least 150-200 people, milling around outside the fence, complaining about the event. That was money lost, for your town. I left 30 minutes after getting there, only paying 10 bucks to get in, and not buying anything, going home. I recommend not going to this event,...
Read moreThe Sandwich Fair is a county fair that's been operating since 1888. It is mostly an agricultural exhibition, but there is much much more. It has a carnival area with many rides that you can pay for individually or with a wristband. This also has all the usual carnival games too. If crowds aren't your thing, it would be best to attend during the day, nights are very busy.
Food at the fair is varied and abundant. The variety is state fair level, and maybe better than some state's fair. Anything from fast food to sit down dining and all abbreviations. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, supper, dinner, et al.
Parking can be distant if you go at a prime time, which seems to be always. I didn't notice if they had shuttle service or not. It would have been nice to find if they did have it, because after all the walking and carrying some great pound cake and other stuff, the looong walk back to the car seemed to take forever. I needed a break before...
