Read moreThis is a great dog park for a close-by stop if you’re in the area. Currently, there is quite a bit of construction ongoing behind the large dog enclosure to manage water runoff for the watershed down the hill towards the river. All of the dogs I’ve seen my dog play with, 15-20+ individual canines have all been friendly and playful. Unfortunately right now the dog park/boat ramp parking lot is unpaved, with lost of pot holes and limited parking when the weather is nice and more citizens from the area are visiting. The areas inside the fences, 1 for 25 lbs, are both a reasonable size, with a couple of benches, a small awning in each that’s water resistant but not waterproof in heavy rain. The 25lb enclosure also has 2 picnic tables and a tire buried upright in the ground. There are functional man-traps for both enclosures to help get your pups in, out, leashed and unleashed safely. The parks typically have some dog poop bags available, but many folks seem to either ‘not notice’ their dog vacating their bowels or are just too lazy to pick up after them. I have picked up several pounds of poops as I like to walk the perimeter for my own light exercise while my dog plays. Most owners are completely reasonable, friendly, and keep a fair amount of attention on their dogs to be sure they’re playing well and not engaging in aggressive behavior; however, I have seen a couple light tussles between others’ dogs. No pups have been seriously injured during my visits. Another patron of the park told me that funds have been allocated to improve the parks by adding water spigots to get clean water for your pets; but, at this time there is no nearby water source besides the river, which owners often carry a bowl down to in order to get some water. I carry a gallon of tap water with me when I go to fill the bowls that are usually already there with fresh water. The large dog enclosure can get quite muddy during or after a rain on the low grade end near one of the picnic tables, so bringing an old towel to wipe down your dog is never a bad idea, especially if it has rained recently and your vehicle is clean in the inside. I’m hoping the funding I heard about will include some additional gravel, wood chips, and/or grass seeding for the muddy and bare spots. It’s not my favorite dog park I’ve visited… Harbins Dog Park’s large dog enclosure in Gwinnett County is much larger with trees and tables, available water within walking distance, and the patrons are better about cleaning up after their dogs. TLDR; It’s a decent to good park to socialize your dog. Bring water and old towels if you’re concerned about leaving with...
Like that this park has walking trails, nice views, public restrooms and dedicated parking. The dog park is separated into two areas for large and small dogs. The areas are more dirt than anything and I imagine they get muddy after a rain and dusty in the heat. Both dog areas have picnic tables and 2 benches with a covering for shade over the benches. The rest of the areas are not shaded. The large dog area had some water running through it and several pups drank from it or bathed in it so they got plenty messy. Luckily there was no water running through the small dog area. You can walk from the dog park to the larger park area along the road. Parking at the dog park is a large gravel lot. The main parking area is paved. Dog park is near the dam and river. There was a noticeable smell from the river (in March) and I imagine it gets stronger in the heat of summer. The dam signal/siren is very loud when it goes off but it seemed to annoy the humans more than the dogs. It went off once in a span of several hours and lasted several minutes. People and dogs...
Read moreWonderful place to unwind in the evening after work or whenever. Cute place for a picnic but very bugsy! You can fish here but bring live bait if you can. Come either early 🌄 or late evening around 6pm when the fish comes up top! The kiddie park is currently closed for right now but Morgan Falls has play area for the kids and it's really nice. This park is pet friendly but must be on a leash. For dogs that bite, they must have a muzzle on. Trails are here but limited. Open field to play football or soccer. The park does have a restroom not sure about the showers. If you want to bring a tube or kayak to float, that's A-ok too. I suggest that people always bring the following main...a mini cooler, mini table top grilly, life vest for people who can't swim if getting into water, flashlight, live bait, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, lemons for the mosquito tissue, light handwashing soap, towels, ice, cups, solar lights etc to maximize the experience. Quik trip is less than 10 miles away from park if all else fails. If you leave the parking area you will...
