The walk from the parking area to the beach is shaded and beautiful, and we often see manatees while crossing the bridge. The beach itself is expansive and is always full of shells if you're interested in shelling. I would recommend getting there early in the morning for the best shells on the beach. This beach faces southwest and has lovely sunsets most of the year as well. If you want a more private-feeling beach experience, a little extra walk to the southernmost beach access will get you away from the crowds. They are replacing the bridge going out to the beaches with composite (plastic) boards and the workers were allowing all the plastic shavings to go in the water. Some were 6 inches long and they were coiled from the drill pieces of plastic floating away. I said something to the workers and they said they had a boom up. I tried to show him the boom wasn't working and all the shavings were floating down the cannal but he didn't want to look. I called City Hall and they said they would look into it and make the project manager aware. They were still doing it when I left 2 hours later.
