From the posted Cabin sign, "The Cabin was the hub of recreation activity during the 1930s and 40s at Wilder Ranch. While the adjacent Arena was used for rodeos and practice, the Cabin was a place to eat, drink, and swap cowboy tricks of the trade. The Cabin was built in 1932 by members of the Wilder family and their employees from wood scavenged from an old shingle camp. Each rock of the stone chimney was hand carried from nearby Meder Creek. In their zest to finish the job in a timely manner, the Wilders stack too many rocks before the mortar dried, and the entire chimney collapsed.
