This is a nice hiking area, especially the "Trail to Skyline" that begins near the top of the park. However, on 3/23/23 the trail was blocked at the 4th bridge (see first photo).

There is also a fair amount of poison oak overhanging the trail in several sections up to that point, probably due to the recent storms. You need to detour off the trail to avoid it.

Aside from that, the trail passes some really nice streams and waterfalls that are active right now.

EDIT 5/1/23: The trail is still a mess up top, but you can squeeze through and under/over the fallen trees (see two new photos). There is one short section where the path was destroyed where a tree was uprooted, and another lower down where the cliff calved off into the ravine. You can pass both sections if you stay to the side. There is still a lot of poison oak encroaching the sides of the trail.

EDIT 5/23/23: Trail has been cleared of fallen wood and is fully passable all the way up to Sanborn (see final two photos). There are some remaining areas where tall grasses are overgrowing the path, so watch for ticks.

EDIT 7/4/23: This is a great hike on a hot day because it's mostly shaded. There are still sections 3/4 of the way up where tall grasses really should be weed whacked away from the path so they don't become...

Interesting area, tucked away off Hwy 9 right before Saratoga. Gravel pathways, clear walking paths/road, lots of nice picnic areas too. Beautiful lookout at the top of the hill, especially as the sun is going down. (Park closed at dark). It says there's a pond but it's more like a stagnant little mossy, cattail filled, remnants of an old dug out "pond". Probably almost completely dries up mid summer. Other than that, there are some pull up bars along a path, a short hike that loops you around the area, and signs/structure, and mine shafts (closed up but you can look through the bars) with history of the quarry. There's even the old building there that they used to load the trucks with the rocks they mines. It's a good informational spot to stop .. maybe for a history lesson for school! I'd suggest bringing water on your walk, taking the slightly longer walk through the picnic area to get to the top to avoid walking the big hill and if it's hot outside, be prepared. It's an open, natural field/forest and on top of a hill. We saw lizards, one snake that was too fast to identify, and deer. There's owl boxes on trees so you may get lucky and see some of those too. Fun spot! My four year old grandson enjoyed the afternoon...

I was driving home taking the long way starting to go up Highway 9 and I driven by this place a million times so to speak but I mean I literally have then driving by this place for over 40 years I saw it when it was just a broken down haunted like place I've seen them rebuild it reconstructed put the bathrooms in and make it very nice so I finally pulled over and checked it out it was early in the morning and there was nobody else there but it was open and it had very nice bathrooms! And they were clean! I looked at the old walkway that went down to the river and wondered if there was any fishing allowed. I don't know the answer to that one yet. I looked on Google Maps and there's some kind of pond that you have to walk up to, and since I wasn't really up to that yet I will find out and get pictures of that pond at a later date but I could see picnic tables and things from the bottom of their parking lot. This place has a lot of history, and it has signs posted all along the way to get you up on the history this was just a very nice cool spot that would be good to take your family friends, I mean I don't know why it took me so long to check it out but I was really happy with this spot and I think you...

First hike of 2025 was here, and I’m really glad that I was able to come here. Big shoutout goes to the City of Saratoga and Public Works for keeping these trails open even on official holidays like today, on New Year’s Day. There are endless amounts of trails that you can look towards — some roll around in a circle, and some lead all the way to Sanborn County Park. While many people say these trails go nowhere, they do lead to the opening of trails that lead into the Santa Cruz Mountains. The only improvement that I would give to this park is the narrowness of some of the trails that we had to encounter — and while there were spectacular views of the South Bay, what was lackluster and disappointing was the fact that there were barely any labels that were telling us where we were going. The bridges were a very good view of how close or how far we were from the very beginning of the entrance of the park, however, so that was a very good sign. If you’re looking for a park that challenges you as much as going to Almaden Quicksilver Park, but without driving so far, then the Saratoga Quarry Park is just for you. I’ll definitely be back to challenge myself to climb these hiking paths more.
