What can I say about the art barn besides a less than welcoming experience? We decided to visit, what we thought would be a familial experience, but we’re instantly greeted with hostility and an unwelcoming presence. Immediately the gentleman berated us for “not following the rules” (keep in mind you walk in and you don’t know who works there and who doesn’t). After trying to make our purchase the woman with brown hair was even more rude to my partner giving one word answers and treating him like he was dumb.
Keeping in mind we would have to return, we were hoping for a different experience…this wasn’t the case sadly. Immediately the same brown haired lady gave us no assistance but was more than willing to help a couple of ladies who more closely represented her physical appearance (if you catch my drift) and then followed us up with “boxes are over there” pointing in a general direction. Mistakenly taking the wrong boxes the same rude gentleman came over and said “no she said over there”.
This isn’t an experience I would have families go to unless you’re in your final days on your trip or dying of absolute boredom. Plenty of other attractions and friendlier people. 0/10...
Read moreNot impressed with this experience at all. The glass art area was very cramped and we had to stand the whole time. I made a sun catcher for my window. When I received my finished product the clear glass part of the piece was white and cloudy. Dirty looking. Talking to Carol the owner about it she said it was contamination of the glass that caused this. Carol gave me the option of doing this art piece all over again. I am a recovering stroke victim and it was not something I would want to do again .I am not going to do a art piece over again when the quality of the materials is compromised. That is their problem and responsibility to make right. I just wanted my money refunded to me. Carol was not going to give me a refund for this. How very unprofessional and very disappointing. Will not recommend this to anyone or will I...
Read moreWe visited on a busy July midweek day, with 8 family members ranging from 5 to 50+ with extensive pottery experience. Everyone was fully engaged for hours.
The opportunity to work in the well-stocked fused glass studio was amazing - several of the adults made 2 or 3 fused glass pieces each.
The teens and one of the ladies made beaded necklaces and bracelets.
The kiddos all have memorable vacation souvenirs via the bisqueware they glazed, that was fired overnight for pickup the next day. We did original work on flat tiles, but we saw a lot of very creative decor on piggy banks & SpiderMan blanks, etc.
The staff was attentive and accommodating on a very busy day... true pros.
If you've a rainy beach-no-good day in Saugatuck area, this is your savior. And it's worth the...
