From the moment I stepped foot in Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, I knew I was in for a treat. This gem in northeast Scott County is an idyllic blend of glacial ridges, lush forests, and hilly terrains that makes every visit memorable.
Whether you're on foot, horseback, or two wheels, the trails here have something to offer. The walking and horseback riding trails wind through dense woods and open fields, offering a serene and contemplative experience. Wildlife sightings are frequent, and the peace and tranquility are incomparable.
For the mountain bikers among us, this park is a paradise. The trail system is extensive and offers varying levels of difficulty. Technical sections will challenge even seasoned bikers, while there are plenty of areas where less experienced riders can still enjoy a good ride.
Murphy-Hanrehan isn't just for those who want to get their pulse racing; it's also a haven for birdwatchers. Designated as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society, this is the best park in Three Rivers to spot woodland songbirds. The Natural Resources division even conducts annual songbird surveys, attesting to the area's importance for bird populations.
I was particularly impressed with the effort put into maintaining this natural oasis. Trails are well-marked and the park is clean and well-kept, thanks to the hard work of the park's management and staff.
If you're looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, look no further than Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve. However, come prepared if you think you'll need to use the restroom. Despite this shortcoming, whether you're an avid mountain biker, a casual walker, a horseback rider, or a birdwatching enthusiast, this park offers something for everyone. I can't wait to return for more adventures, but I'll be sure to plan my bathroom breaks...
Read moreI Love this trail this is on top of my list 10/10 and I’d highly suggest it to a friend or coworker if they wanted to go mtb. I like to remember this trail is for the flowyness and the gruvyness there are a lot of roots in this trail but they arnt that bad to deal with if you know how to deal with them but they are also fun and there’s a lot more features I’d thought there be. I’m a huge fan of man made or wooden built drops jumps ramps and more and there is so much here same with the tall and gruvy bridges they are so fun to ride and just cruise on and you don’t even have to go fast on this trail to have fun you take your time and it’s so beautiful there is a certain area where you get too and there isn’t any shrubs or bushes around there are just the tall trees and you can see so much and as your ridding you can see upcoming features that can hype you up but I love this trail...
