An impromptu stop in a neighborhood aptly called “Majestic Oaks”. I was not aware of the stipulations as stated in other reviews about HOA requirements or “invite only” so I can only blame ignorance for my photo ops. The tree is quite the spectacle to see and the camera truly does not capture the enormity of its’ grandeur. Not a whole lot of literature online other then it is over 300 years old. We were lucky enough to talk with one of the sweetest people we have ever met, with a ton of knowledge on the history of Oglethorpe and this almost 300 year old oak. That said I appreciate it more every time I see it. The illusion of several trees due to the branches reemerging from the ground is beautiful. Teens need to see it before it becomes damaged further.
