(this happened about a year ago, but my original review got deleted)
Got there at 1pm, looked like a storm might be rolling in soon but thought, well thats ok. It might just pass on by. The person at the booth let us in, no problem. 14 bucks to get in, ez parking. We were setting up our beach chairs and the lifeguard comes around and says that we have to leave immediately because there is a storm coming in. We say, "so we have to leave.... Or its just a suggestion?" He says we have to leave and basically kicks us out. We understood but definitely wanted to get that 14 bucks back because we hadn't been there longer than 10 minutes. The person at the booth refused to give my money back. Now I know its only $14, but its the principle of the matter. She let us in, charged us money, and we didn't even get to sit down in the chairs by the time we got kicked out. I even had the paper receipt that showed the time she had let us in at...and she still wouldn't budge. She said that normally there is a sign that says no refunds, but they were doing some painting to the booth so the sign was miraculously not present. Very convenient. Now im not sure why this person needed my $14 so badly, but after trying to calmly explain to her how crazy this whole situation was and to just give me my money back....I gave up. You won, ya tricksy person, you won. You go to that casino, and you get that free rum and coke at the slots. Give that server a fat $14 tip on me.
Anyways, the moral of the story is this: Ferry beach has a better view and sometimes has free parking depending on the time you get there. Go...
Read moreThis used to be my absolute favorite beach in that part of Maine. It is still beautiful when sitting on the beach looking out at the water, but so much of its charm and beauty is now lost with the over abundance of chain link fencing and Home Depot sheds. The lifeguard stand is so extra. This is not Huntington Beach, California. I wish the town of Scarborough would rethink the impact of all that man made clutter and let the beach speak for itself. Plenty of beaches out there that have a lifeguard presence without it looking...
Read moreParking is an absolute nightmare and every time I try, the attendants tell me something that contradicts what they said last time. (Told me to turn around and come one way, but then also said just to pull to the side of the road and wait, on another day) very confusing and disorganized, and has a very haughty feeling if you are actually able to get in. Beach is beautiful though and so is...
