I love walking around the lake here both alone and with my pup. The wildlife and overall nature is beautiful around here in the summer and fall, and this past spring, I realized there are beavers that live here, too! You've gotta hang out on the water's edge really quietly for a bit and watch, and on mild days, you'll see one pop up swimming on its back or just pop up silently along the edge right in front of you and stay there looking at you for a bit as long as you're motionless and quiet. They're amazing to see! The ONLY thing I absolutely ABHOR about hanging around here is the litter and how absolutely, completely inconsiderate so many people are who come down here to go fishing! First of all, I thought for sure you needed a fishing license to do this, as I've been ticketed for not having one, myself, but more importantly, I see people leaving their hooks, fishing line, bobbers, sinkers, bait containers, and food trash ALL OVER the place, and I've come very close to getting hooked by garbage hooks that people leave hanging in the reeds or on the ground when going down to the little dock areas to just stand or sit and look. It's dangerous for everyone, including our pets and the wildlife, and although I try to clean up what I see when I'm there, it would be nice if the Park District would do more to...
