We really wanted to love coming here, and we do for the most part but the water is just not very warm at all so we never can stay very long. They say the water is 80° but I don't think that's true at all, there are a couple warmer spots right where there is water coming out of the pump but thats about it. The people at the front desk also say the air temperature is over 80° but that definitely seems like a lie. There is one part of the kid pool we would avoid because there is cool air blasting down from the vents. I expected the warm and humid air you find at a Great Wolf Lodge, but was very disappointed. A lot of little kids look blueish after a couple minutes in the water, including my daughter. She would be shaking after just a little bit, so we would sit by the hot tub and put some of the water on her until she warms up (I wish they had a "hot tub" safe for kids, she would love to swim and be warm. She is not allowed to even dip her feet in the water so we hold her on our lap outside of it.)
If the water and air was warmer, we would come here most Saturdays, even though it's about a 40 minute drive. It's $7 for me (I'm not a resident of Schaumburg) and free for my little daughter. They don't open until around 5 pm or so on weekdays during the school year.
The main pool looks nice and the cold temperature is expected, the diving boards and slides look fun too (I can't go on any of them right now though). The kid pool seems big but there are always a lot of kids and it's not ideal for small toddlers with all the spraying and splashing toys there. It would be a lot of fun for kids 3 or 4...
Read moreWent during the Friday of spring break. The facility is nice and there are a variety of pool options. The biggest complaint is the number of people that were let in. We arrived at 1 and Water Works opened at 12. It was packed. Having so many kids swimming where kids are diving over each other in the wave pool is not safe. I kept my eyes on my kids the whole time. It was really hard to keep track of them due to the overcrowded pool. Ended up getting a snack and sat outside to avoid the crowd and decided to leave early. There should be a max capacity number posted and it should be way less than the number at the pool today. Lifeguards and parents can't protect their kids if it's too crowded. I felt like an accident could have happened at any moment. I'm a mom of 4 and have been to lots of pools...never as crowded as today.
**Thanks for the reply. I did notice that entry was restricted at a certain point. However, the number of kids that were in during max capacity were too many. My kids are older and it was still troubling to me. Small kids were diving over each other in the wave pool almost hurting the kids ahead of them. In the big pool, some kids were jumping in almost on top of others. It was too much. I've been to the pool before and have had a better experience. Maybe lower the number on those crowded days or have a staggered time slot with beginning and ending times. The life guards were doing their best but only so much you can do when there is...
Read moreWe were there yesterday. I get it’s spring break but the sheer amount of people they let in was unsafe. They hardly had enough lifeguards to accommodate the number of people, espically in the toddler area. We witnessed one child having to get cpr and go away in an ambulance. While this happened no one cleared the area and children literally played right next to where the child wasn’t breathing. I think the least the could do was close the pool area while the event was happening. Only after the child was taken away in a stretcher did they stop letting people in for a short amount of time. The concession area was unclean and the woman taking orders was rude and clearly annoyed to be doing her job. I think the thing that struck me the most was while I was waiting in the lobby for my daughter to come out of the locker room so we could leave, a staff member came out and announced to the crowd waiting to get in that no parents were watching their kids and they would be asked to leave if they were on their phones. Granted every parent should watch their child in the kiddie area the park district should take accountably that they let way too many people in and therefore resulted in...
