Volkening Lake — Attraction in Schaumburg Township

I bike ride from Hoffman estates to bike around the pond. I usually go around 730am .Very nice place to bike very peaceful and tranquil and alot of the people are very friendly. I just have 1 complaint. I have changed my time to come because of this. There is a group of lady's that walk every morning that think that they own the pathway. They walk usually 3 wide sometimes 4 wide and take up the whole path and wont move then get upset saying that i almost hit them. When im on my side and even move into the grass. I came here for a photoshoot with a client on a frigid winter day. It gets really windy here and boy, if I didn't have my gloves, I wouldn't have been able to type this review. This is a good place for photography. Although it was a cloudy and gloomy day, the usage of your own lights can really help bring out the images. The lake is a great backdrop for portrait photography and I'd love to share the images, but my client has asked me not to. Trust me though, this is a great place for taking...

LOVE IT! This place is for all ages. And even pets, as long as they are leashed. There is a play park for kiddos. Paddle boat rentals, refreshments, a nice covered picnic area and my favorite feature is the .7 mile walking/running trail around the pristine lake filled with flopping fish and wildlife. Watch out for the Red Winged blackbird, around the backside of the lake. They are protecting their nests and will dive bomb anyone wearing a baseball hat. Have...
