Scituate Dog Park — Attraction in Scituate

I think it's a great spot to take the dogs and I'm thrilled. I do understand that it cost a great deal of money so I'm a little disappointed that it wasn't significantly bigger and with a separate area for small or timid dogs. I'm also amazed at the drainage system designed to protect the aquifer especially in light of the company next door that processes leaves, brush and grass with dig dropping in it. It's a dog park where people pick up the poo and I would love to know what empirical information on how long if ever it would take before the aquifer would be affected? Would it ever be? The money saved by putting in a less elaborate drainage system would have allowed for more amenities. Even better the monies could have been used to make the parking lot large enough to hold more vehicles so folks are parking on the main road. A big thumbs up to the folks who put in a huge effort to get this done. I really do love this place and would highly recommend it. It's very cool to have someplace for the dogs to frolic about. Plenty of open area for dogs to run around& play. There's somewhat of a walking path, like packed dirt path, around the circumference of the dog park itself. Good for the dog owners to get some exercise, while the dog does too! There are hundreds of tennis balls provided by the park. They are spread out over the ground of the park &a bag near the entrance, holds hundreds more. They're there for anyone to use. There's also benches to sit on while you watch your dog play & make friends. For ppl with smaller dogs though- please note, that there is not a separate area for little dogs at this particular park. PLEASE DONT GO HERE! DANGEROUS! Something needs to happen at this park or a puppy or dog is going to get seriously hurt. An aggressive dog should NOT be off a leash. We were there for 5 min and our 2 year old french bulldog was bullied by a dog the was clearly aggressive when they walked in. The dog ran so fast up to our dog I grabbed her just in time. The owner was smart and left. Then another dog came in and was fine. Until we walked by the dog in the walk way. That dog preceeded to jump on our dog. Why are they allowed in there? We left! The people who are minding their business with a dog behaving needed to leave.It's disturbing! PLEASE...
