The Vineyard at Hillyland is a charming vineyard out in the country. The setting is truly beautiful. We've visited twice now, and enjoyed ourselves both times. We have only been here since Covid restrictions applied, so the inside seating area was closed and the area in the front of the building (I think it may usually be parking?), was converted with umbrella covered tables to spread seating out. I would like to come in under normal conditions, because the inside is really cute. The owner is friendly and told me I could call ahead to purchase bottles when they are closed. Their site has a message on the front page and contact info. I love one of their whites in particular...I'm pretty sure it was the Clearview? But we've had great reds here too. Christmas time I made a special trip out to pick up our holiday wine here, because good wine makes the holidays just a little bit brighter 😉 We are lucky to be near so many beautiful wineries and Hillyland is definitely in...

We had our tasting with Geri (she owns the place with her husband) and she is such a delightful person! She took us through the tasting explaining the wines, the grapes, and the name of each wine (they're named after farms). It was such a nice and relaxed tasting. At the time of our visit, they had 3 whites and 2 reds. ALL the grapes are grown on the farm and the wines were very good. The whites were well balanced with a sweet nose but a drier finish. The reds were light and easy on the tannins. The tasting room is beautiful with seating coming from old church pews. Delightful owners, charming place, well...

This vineyard is the perfect representation of what pure varietals should be. The tasting included all their wines and my favorites were their whites/rose. They had a live band and space for sitting/relaxing and lounging. Their labels were a picturesque representation of historical landmarks and their wine was a trip through time. This is the place I'd recommend anyone to go to to get a great representation of what each varietal is supposed to taste like and what Connecticut wine can perfect. The pictures dont...
