Its really a wilderness within the metropolis. The owls are very big, murders of crows may be rooked. Yellowbellied stoats and muskrats compete for there lives, and the orchard trees push sweet fruits for the thirsty traveler. the summer mornings filled with robin songs, and those become the buzz of our locale flying insects morpbing into a blazing red setting sun accompanied by the sounds of childrens laughter. Barbequed ribs, hotdogs and soda pop. The smells of summer......is that a skunk or just some fine locally grown green? Either way, whatever the occation, light or dark this is the park. Read moreCarkeek Park is old. I know that because it was old when I used to play there. I used to go to day camp at Carkeek and play on the playground there so it’s at least 20 years old. It’s a great playground and park to take your kids to or just to go to if you don’t have kids. There are trails and a beach and a salmon run. There are barbecue pits and covered picnic tables. There are several levels of the park and so there are multiple meadows and other places to sit or play than just the playground.
