As someone who loves escaping to the Northern California coast, I was eager to check out Dillon Beach. And while my recent visit had a few downsides, overall I came away looking forward to visiting this out-of-the-way beach town again.
Upon arriving in town, the narrow, winding streets were congested and parking options proved extremely limited. Visiting the beach basically requires paying the $10 entry fee to access the beach parking, so keep that in mind.
There is an undeniable charm to Dillon Beach that makes any hassles worthwhile. However, too many dog owners do not clean up after their dogs. There were many heaping piles of poop and dried out ones buried under a bit of sand. Just awful. To avoid this, we hiked down the beach away from the parking lot.
There was also some trash around the parking lot, too. People need to clean up properly...
   Read moreGreat spot to enjoy the Pacific. Beautiful and walkable cost line. Rock inlets add character though they can fill with water, pay attention and time the waves. Plenty of open area and sand with dogs and people enjoying. Restrooms available, limited services in the area, did not see a gas station with 15 miles. I would suspect this break can fill up and become crowded on a hot summer day. It's a peaceful place to enjoy the waves...
