The most beautiful hike I have ever done by the Bay Area in California. The views are spectacular, the trails were clean. There are no restrooms so make arrangements before you get there. When we started the hike the weather was cold, so we were wearing 3 layers of cloths. But ion our way back, the reflection of the sun with the water made the atmosphere super hot, we had no way to go because there are not many trees, the trails are surrounded with small bushes only. So, try to be there early to get back before noon. It takes you 4 HOURS walking NON STOP, So about 5 HOURS or more if you take some rest to enjoy of the views. get plenty of water, hat, and a light meal. Be aware of COYOTES, we saw one really big by the parking lot, inside the museum area. Enjoy of this awesome place and respect wild...
Read moreWe took a day long detour on the way for Point Reyes, and had to hard hike almost ten miles till we reached the bluff. The path is full of wildflowers, and you will get glances of animals [mainly elks. speaking of which there is an Elk reserve which we missed because we started late for this] on the way to the cliff. The Pierce Point Ranch is really an eye candy, located very photogenically in a valley and much greener than most of the ranches I visited in California. And you will get the waves crushing on the cliff of McClures Beach. Remember that the starting point of the trail itself is almost an hour drive from Point Reyes lighthouse, so start the trip as early...
Read moreBeautiful, green and blooming! One of the few places and can see both views of the bay and the ocean at the same time! Distance is about 4.7miles from the trailhead out to the point. The last mile or so is on the "unmaintained" trail which is on sand dunes with waist high plants to navigate around. The Tule Elk were kind enough to stop and pose for pictures both coming and going. Views at the point were gorgeous of the ocean-side cliffs and bayside green hills before it drops 100's of feet down to the bay. Definitely not a place to find solitude on a Sunday in April. Very crowded trail even...
