The park is great. The ranger station needs to work on sense of urgency and processing back country permits faster. I showed up before the station opened. There was about 5 people ahead of me and it took over 1 hour to get my Backcountry permit. This is with 3 staff members at the desk. The reason it takes so long is that the people behind the desk sit there and make small talk with everyone. Some of the staff are far worse than others. They have zero consideration for the time they are taking away from your trip considering the permit has to be picked up the day of. Or day before. They need to be more considerate. Stop the small talk and get...

Once again i would post on here how lame it is to have a Visitor Center made out of a maintenance facility. In a small rural community, try to push park laws on residence instead of the county have seattle volume traffic all summer long on a one lane road. To where my grandkids have to stay locked in their yard, even though they live in the woods. and then your visitors steal my grandson's goat. And disrespect, my property all the time, and you do absolutely nothing about it. Great job park service. Also, note, I posted a picture of their multi-million dollar Visitor Center, 20 miles up. We embarked on an awe-inspring adventure for six days. Backpacking along East Bank Head Trail to reach lightening creek, the entire experience was remarkable. The breathtaking beauty of Ross Lake surpassed all expectations. Setting up our camp right on the beach allowed us to savor the moment magnificient view imaginable.

Wow, quite a place to visit. Predominantly a hiking vacation. Get the guide books, understand what yr choosing and go enjoy. Won't specify certain hikes, alot of overuse, seek the lesser traveled.
