The park is great. The ranger station needs to work on sense of urgency and processing back country permits faster. I showed up before the station opened. There was about 5 people ahead of me and it took over 1 hour to get my Backcountry permit. This is with 3 staff members at the desk. The reason it takes so long is that the people behind the desk sit there and make small talk with everyone. Some of the staff are far worse than others. They have zero consideration for the time they are taking away from your trip considering the permit has to be picked up the day of. Or day before. They need to be more considerate. In a small rural community, try to push park laws on residence instead of the county have seattle volume traffic all summer long on a one lane road. To where my grandkids have to stay locked in their yard, even though they live in the woods. and then your visitors steal my grandson's goat.
