Free and plenty of parking. Trails are impressively marked. The park and trails were immaculate with no trash noted. Surprisingly there was more shade than I had originally expected but I was still happy that I brought an umbrella for sun protection as there are some wide open add exposed parts to this trail. This park offers a perfect opportunity for a beginners hike for families and children. No pets allowed. This park is located on private property. Educational opportunities available. Cool rock formations throughout. There were a few bugs but nothing biting. Select few trails were closed off for habitat restoration. The pond white trail appeared to have a detour due to flooding but again clearly marked. I saw many birds and frogs but no other wildlife but I did go mid afternoon on a 90° day. All in all this is a well-kept and wonderful...

I've been wanting to hike here for about 2 months now, and I finally got my chance today! Perfect weather day for this lovely place. I was there for about 3 hours total. Walked the Perimeter Trail in it's entirety, as well as the Hemlock, Observation Trail, and Muskrat Pond Loops (saving Cole's Brook for a subsequent visit). All trails were fairly easy (just watch your step around protruding stones and tree roots) and very well marked/blazed. This lovely Refuge ranges from the outright beautiful to the sublime. Well worth a day visit, and I strongly recommend (after liberally dousing with insect repellent) taking ample time to revel in the sights/smells/sounds (barring civilization noises) everywhere. Everything from the miniscule and humble to magnificent is on display here. Can't wait...

A great walk with the family. We were looking to get some exercise in the shade and this place was perfect. Although there are trails that take you through sunny fields, the majority had plenty of shade. There is so much to see! The perimeter trail is 1.8 miles but there are add on loops that will allow you to hike for as much or as little as you can handle. It is a quiet serene place to enjoy wildlife, so not for louder kids or adults. Use insect repellent and still check for ticks. I found 1 dog tick and 2 deer ticks. Even so, that will not keep me away. This place is...

On a recent sunny Sunday afternoon I decided to tape the Patriots game and drive over to the Caratunk Wildlife Refuge on a beautiful early November day and it was one of the nicest days I have spent this fall. The trails were all well maintained and the fall colors were spectacular. I went in the early afternoon before most of the wildlife comes out, but the fall colors were breath taking. If you are looking for an area with a variety of trail types from flat to slight hills this is your area.
