nice hike and easily accessible from yakima or selah. we’ve hiked here for thanksgiving the past few years and it’s always beautiful. if you start at the proper trailhead, you can avoid driving by the litany of gun folks firing off hundreds of dollars of ammo. you will hear them, however. the trail is dog friendly and like most hikes in yakima, there’s almost no one on them. a nice thing about this hike is it can be as short or as long as you want it due to the nature of the trailhead (it extends the length of the canyon) and the views are really beautiful the entire time.

The first portion that gets you a decent view is not hard to get to at all. After that it becomes as hard as you want it to be....the higher the better. Great views of the valley on top. Would suggest doing this in cooler seasons due to no shade and prime rattlesnake habitat. If you take your kids you can avoid the more dangerous rock faces if you stay out away from them just west off the main trail.

Pretty good trail. On hot days there would be no shade so be aware. Pretty good views of Selah, Canyon road, mt. Adama, Mt. Rainier, and the cascades. The Traiil is clear and being among Rocks sometimes helped as a stepping stone during the incline. Caught view of 4 rams. During this time A portion of the area had burned and that was also good to not be brushing up against taller weeds & plants.
