Semmes Municipal Park And Splash Pad — Attraction in Semmes

I called and spoke to someone about renting a Pavillion for my daughter's birthday party on sunday April 16th. We talked about the locations of all the pavillions and I told her the one closest to the splash pad since that is where my daughter wanted it to be. She emailed me the forms to fill out including my payment method. We were in contact almost every day the week before her party. My daughter is super excited! We get to the splash pad the day of and the splash pad is taped off with yellow caution tape and there is no water running. My daughter is crushed!. I called and left several messages and of course, on Sunday, no one is available. So I emailed her back. She proceeds to tell me 15 mins before my daughters party is to start, that the splash pad is closed for maintenance until may 20th. I specifically told her multiple times my daughter wanted her party at the splash pad! These 9 year Olds did not want to play on...

My nieces, grandson and I love this park. I can see them from just about anywhere, so they have lots of freedom to run about. I like the fact that they have trails in the back with the Frisbee golf course. I really like the idea of the splash pad, the only issue that I have, we are a homeschool family so it would be nice if the splash pad were open earlier, waiting all the way to May 31st seems silly. The temperatures are already reaching 82° and 83°. I don't think they're thinking about the children who are homeschooled and also children that are six and under, it would be nice for them to have a little bit of time before the big kids got out of school. Other than that this place is always nice there's never garbage laying about....

This is a nice park and the splash pad looked nice too but wasn't open when we came. For older kids or more experienced toddlers the park was sufficient but I had a young toddler who is afraid of slides and swings but enjoys climbing and exploring. The structure was scary for her to go up by herself because there were so many openings for her to fall out of So having a toddler friendly piece of equipment would be really nice of this is ever expanded. One with lots of fun stuff but not so many opening to fall out of and/or a little closer to the ground so the parents can stand by them from the ground Other wise the place was well maintained and clean and great for a little...
