Honestly I was skeptical of this farm having such high reviews when it's amongst like 50 other lavender farms. But I trusted the reviews and came to check it out and got to find out for myself why it's so amazing.
Why it's so great: FREE Lavender Farm Tour. Honestly, where else can you get that?? The owner was so very thorough with the explanation of the lavender growing and processing process. I learned so much. I love that we got to see inside the barn and get to know behind the scene process of all that happens on the farm. It really helped me understand lavender so much better and gave me a greater appreciation of lavender. I love their dedication to increasing lavender education. The farm is HUGE and vast. When you drive up to it, you can immediately tell it's much bigger than the other little ones you've driven past on the road. There are so many different varieties of lavender grown here (I think she said 20+?). You can see all the different looking ones and they are all in different stages. Beautiful pictures can be taken here. I came here just a few days ago and though most Lavender have been harvested, there was one more patch still beautifully purple. They let you walk through the fields (so many places don't or they charge you for it) and take pictures and harvest your own lavender. I got gorgeous photos here - like ones you see in magazines and I was so thrilled.
You can get lost of lavender goodies here in the store. From artwork to books to lotions to essential oils and everything in between. I tried out their Frankie & Jo's lavender ice cream and it was Delicious!! I will def. think of them the next time I have Frankie & Jo's.
Thank you for a fantastic lavender...
Read moreLovely Lavender Locale: First, I did not know that the "Rain Shadow" part of the Olympic Peninsula existed. I did not know it gets an exceptional amount of sunshine due to this effect. And I also did not know this makes the area around Sequim, Washington a Lavender Captiol of the World.
B&B is certainly a contender for the best farm amongst the rest. B&B does not stand for "Bed and Breakfast", so be advised. We appreciated the tour given by one of the owners, who was also able to teach us about the differences in aroma, use, and color of French and English types of lavender. The barn in which they dry their product is a wonder to behold, and intoxicating to the senses. Quite the treat by itself.
The shop where they sell products is the equivalent of a Lavender hotbox. Not that it's warm, just that you will smell like lavender for the rest of the day. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is up to you. There are soaps, essential oils, chocolate bars infused with lavender, candles, and all sorts of the other lavender products. The ice cream is interesting. The views of the farm, with the Olympic mountains in the background, are quite impressive. You can buy pre-cut or pay a flat fee to get the chance to harvest your own lavender. Overall prices are reasonable. But how can you put a price on supporting a family-run business?
Bathroom facilities are Port-a-pottys. The tour is free as is the ability to walk around the farm. If you are going to choose one lavender farm to visit, it would be hard for me to recommend one...
Read morePretty cool and educational experience. I had no clue what to expect. Heard lavandar farms are the thing to do in Sequim, so we checked this one out. We get there and are greeted and asked if we've been before. Then we're offered a tour (self guided tour an option too) of the barn in which the entire lavandar harvesting process is done. Surprisingly interesting. Then you can go to the lavender shop where you now want to buy everything! Definitely best to enjoy the tour prior to the gift shop. Went in May, apparently mid July is the best time because the lavender wasn't ready but still an enjoyable experience. Worth checking out. Got some amazing pictures. Got some unique gifties for myself and friends from the gift shop. And it's not just lavender, they also display other locals products like these very cute, recycled and unique purses made out of tires! Also someone posted they pay for good reviews. I can't speak on before my visit but I didn't get paid for this review. They do however ask that if you enjoyed yourself to please post or review and show you how and where but that's hardly bribery. I would recommend to friends and family. It's a different, wholesome and...
