Amazing autumn color and lighting. Far removed from most everything. The camping is more primitive than Starve Hollow down the highway. Bring your own TP (Srsly who camps without it??) The vistas rival Brown Co State Park and Hardin Ridge. Very well kept compared to other parks in the state (I’m looking at you Martin State forest & Yellow Wood).
Please take your trash out with you! No one is going to pick up after you.
Beware of bobcats, they won’t hurt you but they cry like human babies. Never heard it before I came here!! That was a confusing 20 minutes. :D
Some of the trails are overgrown (brambles and poison ivy). Just be mindful.
No showers. No concessions. No rental boats. This makes it less popular.
The fire tower is huge! I could only make it five flights up before the vertigo kicked in.
Highly recommend if you can do the much rougher version of camping. Otherwise, Starve Hollow is your best bet: same topography and woods, more amenities (showers, hook ups,...

These trails were nice incline and ridge line hiking with steep areas around. Nice forest hikes. This hike is hard in the sense that there are significant inclines, but it isn't rugged. The creek areas are currently marshy, so there is quite a bit of mud in some areas and you are crossing multiple turns in the creek...but... that's nature. There aren't really any overlook views, which would have been nice, but with the leaves not out yet you could see out through the trees. In the summer you probably wouldn't be able to see much. Apparently, you can drive to some vista views in the other part of the park, that is more for driving and horse back riding.
Nice hiking and area over all, and it is always fun to try new areas. It was also free entrance and abundant camping and...
Read moreThe grounds of the.park are an absolute shame. Dead trees laying all over and leaning on live trees. Lots of vehicles at the office area - but no one out cleaning up grounds. It would appear that the dead trees could be cut up and sold for firewood. Sure lots of people would buy the wood - and that would get rid of it. Yes realize that "maybe" they are letting nature take its course - but too much of that makes for s messy,...
