Dougherty Apple Orchard - Marion, IN — Attraction in Shady Hills

We just so happened to drive by this orchard that we had no idea was even there and decided to stop. Dougherty Apple Orchard on Troy avenue in Marion, Indiana is the place you want to visit! We were looking to get apples to make Jam, pie filling and pies with. They were so helpfull with all of the knowledge and information that they shared with us to enable us to make what we want. We walked away with a bushel of mixed apples split in 2 bags and marked for jams and pies. They even carried our apples to our vehile for us! We were able to taste the apples as they were describing them to get a feel for the taste and firmness. Let me tell you now that the price was fantastic! We visited two other orchards yesterday and the prices don't even compare! They even have U pick apples. Starting soon they will have the store open to sell cider and other products. I highly suggest that give them a visit. You will not be disappointed!

I love coming here to pick apples from the tree. Without doubt I know they are fresh. I had a person at a farmers market tell me, when asked, if they were that years apples he said yes. I bought a bag excited to get fresh apples only to bite into one and not only was there no crunch but it was like mush in my mouth. I will not buy from any other place.
