We visited Lake Shaftsbury State Park for a kayaking trip. While the lake is on the smaller side, it still made for a pleasant and relaxing adventure. There are quite a few underwater plants, but they didnât interfere too much with paddling.
The park has a lovely, well-maintained beach area thatâs sectioned off for swimmers, as well as a separate launch area for kayaks and other watercraftâwhich is a big plus. We appreciated the clean surroundings and the many picnic tables scattered throughout the park.

   Read moreI have never been during the regular season but I'm here from Labor Day to Memorial Day for morning walks on the nature trail around the lake. My dog s have been coming here for almost their entire life and it's probably their favorite spot.
There are gorgeous views and the trail is maintained and includes bridges in the areas where it's boggy. For a little different scenery you can walk the railroad tracks for a bit.

   Read moreMy wedding was here in June, and the park was absolutely the most perfect place for it. The backdrop of the lake, the trees, and mountains was priceless and breathtaking. My pictures came out so gorgeous. The park staff were kind, accommodating and helpful. Also, the pavilion is secluded from the rest of the park so it was the perfect place for the reception. I highly recommend them as a wedding venue, even though they arent necessarily listed as one on the VT state...
