Nicely maintained park & trails. A few downed trees in the back, but nothing too crazy to cross. When leaves are down, look for ribbons to guide you along. I walked the outermost loop in just under 90 minutes. The only wildlife I saw was two deer & two squirrels.

Meadow sucks on a full sunny day but woods are nice. Stopped in July so really buggy. I could see when spring would be a muddy adventure.

Trails could use better marking, (and perhaps a few more boardwalks over swampy areas,) but all in all, it is a beautiful park.

Morgan Park is local park here in Shalersville, Ohio (44255 zip code is Mantua, Ohio just north of Shalersville). Just south of 303 on route 44.

Great park with very few amenities. Wonderful walking trail in the meadow. Round trip on easy path, about one and half miles total. With more trails into the woods. Muddy but that is Portage County. Couple miles of woods in the Morgan Preserve with paths and direction markers. Good couple of hours of hiking, but just walk in one direction and you are out.

My dogs ( both rescues) love it. I take them off leash, but both come to me as soon as they see people to go back on leash.

I have NEVER met a un-nice people at Morgan Park.

Portage County Parks does the maintenance very well.

We are a friendly community that expects you to be responsible for cleaning up your mess. As an active litter cleanup person, I have only once seen a bag that I had to take to the trash barrel.

There is a small local sawmill (RedGate Sawmill) just down 44 south that is a nice little stop if you are a woodworker.

Fly in to the Portage County Airport.

Most of Shalersville is farms. North on 44 is locals Rapid Electric, Harper Pump and Well, and just north is Mantua, Ohio. Great little town. 25 mph strictly enforced with people and kids walking around. Oh yea, “distracted driving” is prohibited. (That is a good thing, IMHO.)

Next I will discuss Glazier Trail, the Headlands Trail, and other parts of Portage County.

One last thing, come and visit, cleanup up your mess, Then go home. I...

Went there for eclipse viewing. Worked great. Not crowded, easy access from and back to interstate highway so was able to leave before traffic got bad. Nice quiet park, great for dog walking. Probably has good birding later in the season, April 8th is somewhat early. Natural park (not built up or with playground area). Permanent restrooms (pit toilet) were clean. About 30 parking spaces should be fine for most cases. A picknic table in the middle of the main field. Gravel main path for nice 30 minute stroll. Some grass paths leading off but I did not explore those. Great place to stretch your legs for 30...

Beautiful trails and well kept could be 5 stars all day everyday with 1 easy fix. GET MORE GARBAGE CANS!!!! One garbage can at the entrance when there's literally miles of trails going away from the parking lot is not enough. I walk 2 dogs i always clean up after and by time I get back to the single can I've been carrying sometimes 4 bags for who knows how long. There's a access driveway with a gate for the lawn mowers to get in would be simple to put another garbage can or 2 on the trails. People leave a lot of shit on the trails and I honestly...
