I'll start off nice. The customer service was excellent and very kind. Ok now that that's over lets get to the issues
I reserved two nights in a Standard room at a little over $200 a night in room 209. When I first approached the room the door was open. I thought that was strange. Later in the night I noticed that that door doesn't shut very well from the sound of my fiance opening and closing the door four times in attempts to get it to close and stay closed.
There is bad odor in the room that you will get used too.
I took a shower that night and the water went from scolding hot to freezing cold. Not very pleasant. I also took another shower the next day around 11:00 am and it did that same thing.
I was awoken to the sound of a rodent scratching in the wall right behind the bed. This was very annoying. I was then distracted from the sound of mice in the walls to a sound of a vacuum cleaner running. This was probably around 8:00am. Thank goodness that didn't last long and seemed to scare the rodent away. So we can gather the walls are very thin.
They offer WIFI. only in the lobby. And it is a horrible connection. I could hardly load my email, I was the only one in the lobby at the time. So mass usage is not the excuse they will give you as to why it is slow.
I went to my room around noon and when approaching the door i noticed it was open..... I made sure the door shut and locked before i left that morning. I asked the maid if she had been in my room.... She said yes. Why would the maid be in my room when i had the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the broken door knob? She said she didn't see on the her list the our room was not on there....?.... Strange. Everything was there and I'm sure it was a stupid mistake but the fact that she did shut my door or make sure it was shut makes me upset. ANYONE could have walked right in STOLEN my belongings. Very Very unsafe and insecure.
I decided to go home that day and not stay the last night.
There are other places near the ski resort you can stay at and would have to actually be worth $200. Because at the Inn at China Peak for $200 a night you will get a stinky room, broken door handle, hot and cold shower, your privacy and security being breached, slow WIFI and thin walls to share rodents. Did I mention the sand on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA few friends and I visited China Peak Resort recently, and we had an amazing time! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really set the tone for a great day on the mountain. Their positive attitude made the experience even better.
The resort has a charming, laid-back vibe that we all appreciated. Itās not super modern or fancy, but that only added to its relaxed and down-to-earth atmosphere. It felt like the perfect spot to enjoy some winter fun without the overwhelming crowds or pretentiousness you sometimes find at larger resorts.
While we spent most of our day skiing and snowboarding, one of the highlights was watching some of my friends who were newer to the slopes take lessons. The instructors were enthusiastic, patient, and great at making learning fun. Even though it was a busy weekend, the classes were well-organized, and no one felt overlooked. Everyone came away feeling more confident, which made the day even more enjoyable.
The slopes themselves were in great condition, with a good variety of runs for all skill levels. However, we did notice that the "Academy" green run had some very fast skiers and snowboarders zipping by, which seemed a bit risky for beginners. The resort had plenty of āslowā signs posted, and there are ample advanced runs, but itās something to be mindful of during busy times.
Overall, our trip to China Peak was a blast. Itās a fantastic spot for a fun, no-frills day on the slopes, and weāre already planning to come back. Whether youāre going with family or friends, this resort has something...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRegular power loss to the lifts is the primary reason for this post. It was a 40 minutes wait to get on chair 6 (the only chair working at the bottom) only to get you halfway up the mountain. This is the best-worst season ever for ski resorts and China Peak is probably doing the best they can with the resources they have to fix the problems at hand. My issue is with the morning ski report. Don't believe it! The report stated chairs 1, 2 and 6 were in operation all day. That was not true. Chair 1 was down for the whole day with no mention of it in the ski report. I even refreshed the report several times after I left. It was as false an advertisement as it comes to get as many people there without a plan as to how they could offer reasonable service. The staff at China Peak is amazing! They were doing the best they could at crowd control to get as many people up the mountain as possible. The staff was just as frustrated as the guests and my heart goes out to them for any difficult people they had to put up with. As a season pass holder, I really hope China Peak resolves the power supply issue soon. Though it may be out of their control, I would recommend some transparency on their web site before people drive for hours and spend hundreds of dollars on lodging and lift tickets only to find there are technical difficulties when they show up to...
