Hiked the Shelburne / Rattle River Trail with a connection to Kenduskeag Trail yesterday, eleven miles in total. Absolutely spectacular views along the upper ridge. I also enjoyed the isolation, not seeing a soul until the last mile of the hike. The section of Kenduskeag Trail to Rattle River junction ridge was beautiful, above tree line. Several sections of exposed ledge, mud and small scrambles with steep drops and climbs amidst the flat sections. Far more tedious, especially the steep section during the steep section of Rattle Ridge Trail, than I was expecting. The wet conditions covering the rocks made the scrambles tricky.

Many black trumpets along the way. It was way to hot and humid to pick and preserve them...
