Clever little local spot for parents with young children! If you're looking for a fun, easy, local, family friendly activity that won't break the bank, this is it! Can even be enjoyed as a weeknight outing, if you live nearby! The splash area has multiple, varying splash and sprinkler fixtures perfect for kids - toddlers and up to about 10 years old. (Accompanying adults are welcome to enjoy the splash area free with $2 children's admission.) The splash area is completely fenced in and small enough for parents/caregivers to find a table or chair and see the kids during playtime. The bathrooms serve as changing areas and are modern and clean. There is a small offering of assorted chips, candy and soft drinks for sale. A very short distance away from the splash area are two modern play scapes, one for smaller children and one for bigger kids. Ample parking. A small path circles the park play area. Several picnic tables are available nearby, as well as a pavilion. Be advised, shade is limited primarily to the pavilion. It may be best on very hot days to play at the park first and follow it up with a visit to the splash pad. Pack a picnic lunch or a casual dinner, bring your swimsuits and definitely make the trip up with your family...
Read moreIt's a very nice park named after a local hero the late fire chief Gene Shepherd. Fire station themed playscape brand new tennis courts sand volleyball and a very large Pavilion and restrooms are normally open from 9 till 5 most days.
There is a very nice paved walking path that Loops in and throughout the park. Pro tip:: During the very busy Cider Mill season you can actually Park here and walk to Yates Cider Mill.
Why not five stars? Cuz this park has a lot more potential , if only it was a priority on somebody's radar all the trees they planted four years ago a long 23 Mile Road are virtually dead I've seen the parts through out here watering it once or twice a week but it's haphazard or hit-or-miss or both.
A nice enhancement in all Shelby Township parks Would be one of those Police Department hotlines like you see all over Wayne State University's campus.
Also if the park could just get a little primping weeding and tender loving care it could be a...
Read moreWe visited the Splash Pad today for the first time and it was amazing! I’m bummed that it doesn’t have more reviews. Lets show this wonderful community park some well deserved love.
The Township has worked hard to overhaul this park, creating a delightful family experience. We were even able to bike the entire way using the new connection to the Macomb Orchard Trail!
We only paid $2 for our son to enter, resident parents are free. The young man working at the counter was polite and well informed. The other families in attendance were friendly and respectful of the younger kids. It was nice to see pre-teens and toddlers all enjoying the space.
Non-residents are likely discouraged that they are not able to attend, but that’s true of many neighborhood and community pools. The Township is extremely fair allowing non-residents to attend as guests of residents. We have nothing but love and 5-stars for this...
