Google maps is WRONG - this review is NOT HOLLAND POND BUT the place Google maps took me!!! - on Ryan Rd (which is the best trail head entrance for Hollands) next to a place called Coyote Joe's ( which maybe cool I've never heard of it!) but I found another short trail that ends at river w picnic facilities so not total loss- it has no name thatt I saw but think it's part of Shelby parks. This is where GM location is on Ryan Rd. The actual Hollands Pond which I've just found is up further right past 22 toward 23 - there is a sign on road as you get before 22- now I don't have time to walk this whole trail - really no time to walk further than the porta John (which they have LOL) - the other short trail was cool though!!! Just short out n back but could.hang out at end with a nice lunch or book.TONS of wild flowers and it ends at river with thousands of black eyed Susan's. I even picked a few early blackberries in another week or so you'll find buckets of them! Seems like perfect.time.of year to walk here . I'm going to consider Google's wrong directions a win for a great short walk in nature ! I'll update the review when I can get back to the actual Hollands Pond . I would give Google maps a 1 star - I keep finding the site placement is incorrect or they take some nutty way to get somewhere that locals would never take (longer and more...

First experience here! I am a birdwatching and nature enthusiast. I drive past this park regularly. In passing, I've seen Herons and Egrets, Turkey Vultures, various raptor species. It's early autumn here so when I ventured here, I was able to see plenty of birds! Downy Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, Groesbecks, Robins, Finches, among others. Beautiful place. My only issue is the close proximity to the gun range. I don't know how that's allowed to be near such a vital and protected environment. I wonder what kind of impact it's had on the species that inhabit this place. Nonstop firing for the first half of the day. Seems extremely disruptive to the...

Daughter and I visited for the first time today. Spent about 2 hours and covered maybe half the trails. There's plenty of unmarked trails and hidden spots. However much of the park has a neglected feel. Many of the benches, as well as the signs are in rough shape. Where the benches are it looks like they were meant to be viewing spots of the ponds and marshes but the overgrowth has blocked any view there might have been. There's actually no real view of the 2 main ponds at Holland ponds. Gave it 4 stars instead of e because there's still more to see and because as others have said it feels world away when...

You can easily spend hours in this park! *ACCESSIBILITY: Only the main trail is level and could be accessed by wheelchair, but has a gravel surface, so it would be exercise. A power chair should be able to handle it. Note: ONLY the main trail is accessible like this.* Many great trails, but most of them are unmarked. Take the straight trail past the picnic pavilion, follow it through the fence, and you can walk all the way to Yates Cider Mill. Be sure to come back often, and allow time to explore. Plenty of photo opps if you're a photographer!
