This place is an awesome gem tucked away in Illinois at Lake Shelbyville. We had an amazing stay while we were here for four days. We started @ Oak Ridge tent campsite #2 because we arrived so late Saturday evening. The camp host came and visited us and told us we would enjoy site #15 on the other side of the valley. He was absolutely correct!! We had brought our little Jon boat with and at site 15 there was a private cove wit plenty of room to tie up the boat. The cove averaged 13’ deep so larger boats would be fine as well. Site 2 was super close to bathroom and water. Site 15 was a short walk to the facilities. We were the only people there camping tho!! Everything was super private and quiet. Boat launch was free and down the road about a mile and a half. 2 lane ramp with wheelchair access boat ramp. Fish cleaning station and plenty of room for tons of trucks and trailers. They advertised a movie in the park Saturday night, but we didn’t go see what that was all about. RV camping area was pretty full, but we’re tent campers. Ten star rating!!!! We will definitely be back very soon!!

Nice campsites. Shower house was clean, but restroom by our site wasn't. Smelled awful of course I realize it's not a flush toilet, but there was feces all over the back of the womens toilet. Gross! Campsite #88 is close to the water, but had a steep bank to climb down. Small bridge to cross on path is in need of repair. Didn't catch a thing in this cove though. Maybe someone else will have better luck. Site was clean and shaded. Only thing I didn't like was I could not find a dumpster. The one by the entrance had sign that read, no yard waste and no household trash. Hmm, so I guess we take our garbage home withus. They could put a dumpster our two different places for convenience, such as by the showerhouse. Just a thought.

We've been coming to eagle creek to camp for years. The campground is well maintained. The hosts are warm and friendly. There are tons of beautiful hiking trails. It's situated right on Lake Shelbyville for plenty of boating and fishing opportunities. Eagle Creek golf course is also right down the road.

We’ve camped here for 10+ years. Bathrooms are always clean. Fire pits are cleaned out also. I recently stayed here, and had one single problem in the 10 plus years we’ve been here. The female host was persistently at our spot trying to have us give it to the Labor Day weekenders, when we had paid all the way until the date and time we had reserved. She even had saw us on a walk told us that we could make money off of our site. This isn’t about money..or so we thought. We were out to have a relaxing week, not be pressured to leave 2 days early. So then our last day, she came to our spot bright and early, and told us that she’s having people set tents up on our site. WHAT ???? Who does that? It had already been reserved by the people, and she was at our spot an hour prior putting the reserve ticket in and taking ours out. So I’m not sure exactly why she wanted them to set up so badly, when they had stated they would originally wait ? This woman host was onto something ? We ended up leaving 4 hours before our checkout time, and didn’t get to make any breakfast, as we had to pack Up early. Total the final day she was at the site 3 times before 11 am. The day before it was probably 5 times she had either stopped us or came to our site to get us to leave. She took advantage of 2 young adults, because she knew she could. Camping Hosts shouldn’t be about making money, it should be about the ability to let these people camp stress free. Our last 2 days were definitely not...

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!! I reserved a campsite for the Labor Day weekend (2024) and when I showed up I couldn't believe 1) How DIRTY the site was! Plastic silverware, a sock stuck in the mud, bottle tops, etc. The picnic tables were old, covered in moss/mold, etc., not a lick of grass ...just dirt and a little gravel. 2) The site was sooooo small! I couldn't tell where my site ended and the other began. There was barely enough room for my pop up tent - forget about putting up anything else like a shelter, etc. The site, D-T12 , backs up to a VERY steep drop off.

I ended up putting the 2 or 3 things that I taken out of my car , back into the trunk and left. What a waste of a holiday! I know the fee was only $10/night....but I wouldn't have stayed there if THEY paid ME !!

DO BETTER EAGLE CREEK STATE PARK!!

(I will be hanging out in my backyard this weekend I...
