H. V. Griffin Park — Attraction in Shelbyville

Great place for the family, really love the playground since the upgrade years back . The kids love the indoor / outdoor swimming pool , it just sucks cause it closes for the season too early in my opinion , but I guess it has to be that way , and always has , but the indoor pool is open year round . They also have indoor / basketball courts , and not exactly sure how many but they have tennis courts . I have recently seen people playing frisbee golf I think that is what you call it, and from what I could tell it looks like that it is something that the park has something to do with. Local park, for any mountain bikers this place serves as a great place to practice small drops, technical rocks and roots, and overall bike handling. I really wish they would maintain and expand the small trails in the woods, they have the potential to be great trails. For anyone else there are pavilions for events, smaller pavilions for a few people, the rec center, the basketball court, the volleyball court, the dogpark, ect. Note there are NO HOSES OR FAUCETS in the main park, you have to go inside the rec center or BYO. Not 5 stars because no trail maintenance or improvements for other sport types, I'm not going to chapel hill anytime I wanna...

Great park for kids and teenagers, they have a skate park, batting cages, and the huge two story recreation center is great for all ages, with an outdoor pool with a beach entrance for young kids and a water slide, a well as an Olympic size indoor pool that is open all year round. Basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, softball fields, baseball fields, and several large open fields great for flying a kite or have a picnic out in the sun. This park has everything for your recreational needs.
