I recently took a trip to Indian Well State Park, and it was a wonderful experience! The park is beautiful, with plenty of space to hike, grill, and hang out with family and friends. The main area offers a stunning view and direct access to the Housatonic River. Towards the back of the park, you can enjoy mountainous views and hiking trails. The park also features a gorgeous waterfall, although swimming is not allowed. My boyfriend and I tried to swim and were unfortunately asked to leave by the rangers. Despite this, the waterfall is still a fantastic sight to behold.
The three main attractions are:
The sky view, which involves a moderate 20-minute hike to the top of the mountain. The waterfall, which can be a bit tricky to find but is worth the effort. When driving to the park, you'll find two parking lots. One is attached to a private community, and the other is the main parking lot where most visitors park. I recommend parking at the first lot; directly across the street, you'll find a trail to the waterfall. If you're looking to relax and grill some burgers with your family, there is a huge open space along the Housatonic River where you can camp out and enjoy a beautiful day in the sun. My only recommendation is that the park make it very clear to visitors that swimming is not allowed in the waterfall. This is a big attraction, and I’m sure visitors will appreciate knowing whether access is permitted or not.

Read moreWe came here on some state holiday (July4th?) having driven an hour to get there we arrived only to find the they had signs posted out front that said "Beach closed, No parking!". After a lot of driving around and realizing we couldn't figure out what to do we decided to drive down to inquire about finding the hiking trails since that's what we actually came for anyway. We drove alllllllll the way down to the parking area and the guard at the parking post told us they had reopened the beach and that we could park. I said "your site said nothing about being closed in the first place and your closed sign is still up and stationed at the entrance. "I know it!" he tells us. Anyway, we ask about hiking he directs us to go "this way, can't miss it!" After a lot of confusion we park (possibly illegally) and trek to the trails. We come out to this beautiful waterfall where 200 people are yelling, screaming, jumping in despite signs everywhere not to. It was a nightmare over there. Not one park ranger ANYWHERE. We spin around...
Read moreGUIDE (Park & Waterfall) If you are interested in the Indian Well State Park Beach you may pay the ticket to entry the park. The Waterfall is open for everybody.
If you pay the ticket at the State Park Beach and don’t want to leave the park in car just to pay another extra ticket you could still enjoy the waterfall, you need to walk about 8 minutes, your trip starts at the abandoned railroad that passes by the park, taking a left when you are leaving the park and walking for about 4-6 minutes through the railroad, you should arrive at a private community (your not going there) leave the railroad tracks and cross the street.
You would see the sign and a path to go directly to the waterfall. I hope this guide is helpful to everyone.
My review: The waterfall is beautiful and cold, deep water it cover me I’m 5,10 feet tall. Some people leave their trash and is a little disgusting. Hope you enjoy your visit...
