HAUNT: LEGENDS OF FEAR
TYPE: HAUNTED TRAIL AND HAUNTED HAYRIDE
ACTING: The acting at Legends of Fear was absolutely phenomenal. Every single actor (hayride and trail) made us scream, jump and laugh! (Out of fright, of course). The Hayride actors had so much spirit and enthusiasm and stayed in character as the hayride was driving off. The trail actors really stayed in character to the exact scene they were placed at and it made it seem like I was really in for some deep trouble! (In a great way) The actors were so so SO great and I do hope they see this and keep the motivation high for the haunt season. The actors that stood out to me the most were the Motel scene from the hayride, clowns from the hayride, Nuns from the church, clowns from the circus on trail but truly, everyone was so fantastic. Not one person was better than the other, everyone was great.
SETS: The sets were so astonishing that I thought I was at Universal Studios. The Pirate scene was killer. Without giving much away, the set and the fog was out of this world. And I can’t forget the AMAZING SOUNDTRACK throughout the ENTIRE haunt! Legends of fear really stepped their game up with these incredibly loud soundtracks. My favorite soundtrack was the pirate scene for sure. Most people do not realize that what they smell in a haunted house is actually scented cups or sprays but I wanted to point out that the morgue and the scene with all the coffins had a great “dead” smell to it. I really thank the managers and people who take the time to take care of each scene to make their customers happy by adding small but realistic details like this. This haunt really shows true haunt dedication. It's not the average “farm haunt” with ply doors and black tarp.
TICKETS/FOOD/GIFT SHOP/OTHER: Buying tickets here is incredibly easy. We purchased ours online but this place has a convenient, big, ticket booth with many workers helping you with online and in person tickets. They were very friendly as well…a great way to set the tone for the haunt. The food here has the average haunt food, but seemingly delicious! Homemade apple cider donuts, homemade fresh squeezed lemonade, and I also believe they have popcorn, cookies and hot dogs. As well as other refreshments. (No Alcohol). A great way to enjoy some snacks around a warm campfire. The gift shop was cozy and had great attire such as shirts, sweatshirts, hats and probably more. The ladies working the front were also extremely welcoming. We also wanted to include the workers who directed us with parking. They were helpful and easy to follow.
Big thank you to Brad, his wife, and his team. We actually asked ourselves before we came “Who owns Legends of Fear?” and we soon found out by friendly faces and welcoming workers. We WILL be visiting again this haunt season and can’t wait to meet everyone and talk to Brad again. Unfortunately, we had to leave before meeting the crew but can’t wait to see them again. Thank you for your kindness and putting on one heck of a show for your customers! Happy Haunt season...

Legends of fear is THE BEST Halloween haunt in CT
First of all, it’s all hosted on a legitimate tree farm, with real woods, and is obviously a labor of love and passion for the Halloween season. Everywhere you look there is decorations and lights and ALOT going on.
This place has THE BEST Halloween animatronics I’ve ever seen, as in they are NOT cheesy. Plenty of jump scares. Most of the entire trail of the hayride was LOADED with decorations, lights, sounds, effects, actors, and awesome “scenes”. One of which is a stretch where the woods on either side of you are completely dark other than hundreds of glowing eyes and teeth, some of them are a good 50 feet up a tree! Must have taken forever to wire all that up! They went the extra mile with that scene. There’s probably a good 50+ actors just along the hayride to scare you. They’ll load around 20 people on a trailer meant for at least 30 so you aren’t uncomfortably close to anyone you don’t want to be. Around 30 mins for the round trip on the tractor, it can get cold, but its all part of that Halloween experience.
The hallow walking trail is what sold me though. Unlike other events, if your group is two, they will send you in as a group of two, if your group is 6 they’ll send you in as a group of 6, etc. You will eventually reach a few hold points where you’ll run into the other groups but for the most part, who you came with is who you walkthrough and experience this with, which makes it awesome because I’ve had many events like this ruined at other places by being stuck in a group with disrespectful or obnoxious people. This walkthrough is just as good as and in many ways BETTER than the haunted graveyard. You WILL get jump scared, and the attention to detail along this trail is mindblowing. I think I counted around 40 Jack-o-lanterns which aren’t things you simply buy and turn on. At least another good 50+ actors along the trail, probably a lot more I didn’t even notice. There was around 15 different “scenes” and “houses” who walk through. The trail took me just over 30 mins to complete. There is a large labor of love for halloween manifested all around you the entire time your here.
Dark Woods. Hayrides. Fire. Creepy decorations. Spooky Lights. A nonstop background noise of screams, chainsaws, laughs, and other spooky sounds. It’s a fully saturated Halloween experience that I can’t wait to do again next year.
Parking is crowded but moves quickly. There are plenty of WELL LIT and CLEAN port-o-potty’s scattered throughout all the areas you would be in. There is a community fire pit and picnic benches in the ticketing area. They have a snack booth with soda, water, hot cider, lemonade, mini donuts, hotdogs, candy, popcorn, ice cream and a few other things. Well done Fairview Tree Farm.
They have a merch store as well with t shirts, hoodies, beanies, etc. Buy something and support! See...
Read moreThe nuns, clowns and mortuary was the scariest and that was 10% of it. The rest.. Nothing scary about it. Don’t go unless you get the VIP pass! I went last night with 4 friends and we should have gotten the VIP. HUGE mistake!!! The line was THREE HOURS LONG!!! Absolutely ridiculous. All people with VIP literally would keep walking by the enormous “regular” line and step right ahead down to the tractors, which were completely out of site. You can do the Hallow walk and/or the tractor. For younger under 25ish people, it would be a fun ride. Otherwise, it would have been much better and scarier if the tractor part was also walkable. We got there at 8pm and by the time we were back to warm up by the LOVELY fire, it was 1215am!!! The line to the regular haunted house “The Hallow” was a 15 minute wait at that point. It is all walking trails, not well lit with steep stairs and many rocks sticking up within the paths. The actual structures within the woods with actors was pretty awesome though! There is one place where you need to get on your hands and knees and crawl about 20 feet into a low profile plywood bottom tunnel that is dirty, muddy and filthy. Wear pants you don’t care to ruin. Someone had expensive pants on and the debris while crawling in the tunnel ruined the fabric in the knees. Overall it was an okay time with lots of thought and effort into planning a great haunted attraction however, it is far overpriced at 45.00 for the regular/60.00 VIP. If we knew the line was going to be that long, we would not have stayed or even gone. The line starts off where you are in one section and they let you through these gates. You think you are in and then walk into another line which no joke was 1/4 mike long!!!! THREE HOURS. They need to have some sort of time system and sell out when they are out. They are making tens of thousands of dollars per night so why would they though? Again, if you’re not willing to spend the 60.00 for the VIP line, don’t even bother going. Trust me! You’ll be cold and miserable, not even able to enjoy anything once it happens. One thing to add was the fire type show towards the end of the line to the tractors. Yes it was interesting but EVERY minute in line, the woman performer would remind people that she accepts tips and to “feed the pumpkin.” I heard this over 100 times and it got to be a bit much. Definitely not going back but will not discourage anyone other than emphasizing the...
