C & O Canal Park — Attraction in Shepherdstown

Great place to go. You can call on canal Rd. It used to be free and i think it still does is but there was a donation box put in from what I can recall but that was years ago and I'm not even sure if it's still there. You have the aqueduct about 1/4 Mile up the canal and it's way easier for little kids to play in the creek right before it stops into the Potomac River. Also the main source of food in the area is Battleview Market or you could cross the bridge into west Virginia and go to food Lion but i highly recommended going to Battleview. Stopped here on the way from PGH to Baltimore. Summer Road Trip. It was a bit further off the highway than it looks. It turned out to be a nice lunch stop. There was picnic tables, and a nice bathroom. Boats were coming and going regularly. The descriptions of the history of the area were nice. I can't believe people built all that just to shave time on their trip...
